Hello! My name is Amy Gotshalk and I am so happy to be teaching first grade at North Ridge! I grew up in Canton, Massachusetts and all of my family still lives up there. My husband and I moved to Raleigh in 2001. We love living here!

In 1993 I graduated from Lesley University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Then, in 1996 I graduated from Lesley with a Masters in Education. I got my first teaching position in Hanover, Massachusetts teaching second grade. I taught in Hanover for five years before moving to Raleigh. Once in Raleigh, I got a first grade position at Wakefield Elementary. I stayed there until 2009 and then went to Stough Elementary. There I taught one year in Kindergarten and three years in first grade. When we recently moved to a new house, North Ridge was our base school. My children decided they wanted to transfer there and I followed along! We are so happy to be here!

Speaking of my children, my oldest is Aaron and he is in the tenth grade, Mollie is in the eighth grade and my youngest Max, is in fifth grade. They all love North Ridge and tell me every day how happy they are that we all made the switch to North Ridge. As a family we love to participate and watch sports. We are die hard New England sports fan. Every Sunday we are huddled around the TV watching the Patriots! All three kids play soccer so you may see us on the field on any given Saturday.

I LOVE to read and I try to read as much as I can. My number one goal is to instill the lifelong LOVE of reading to each and every one of my students. Happy reading!

Hello Unicorns! I'm Miss Laske and I am so excited to be a part of the North Ridge family! I grew up near Chicago, Illinois and moved to North Carolina just two years ago. I graduated from Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) and received a double major in Elementary Education and Health Education. I taught fifth grade in Cary before coming to North Ridge.

Besides teaching, some things that I love to do are travel and dance! I have been to 13 countries so far! My favorite travel destinations are The Galapagos Islands (because of the sea turtles) and London (because of Harry Potter). I would love to someday go on a safari! In the summers I choreograph and coach high school dance teams throughout the midwest!

My goal as a teacher is to make every student feel accepted, respected, and valued. I hope to instill the values of Respect, Effort, and Positivity in my classroom! I can't wait for a great year!

My name is Katie Neil and I am so excited to be a North Ridge Unicorn. I am a native of Raleigh, North Carolina; however, I spent four years by the beach attending the best college, the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I loved my time at the ocean; however, I truly enjoy exploring the city of Raleigh and I am glad to be back in my hometown. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 2013 and have been lucky enough to have taught in Wake County since.

When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, traveling, and cycling. My family and I attend every NC State football game and I love exploring coffee shops around the city. Our classroom is a safe place where students can explore and learn new things. We are a community focused on a productive learning environment for each student. I am so grateful to share this experience with you and excited to see what amazing things this school year has in store!
