Hi, my name is Katie Currin and I’m excited to be teaching 1st grade at North Ridge Elementary!  I was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia with my 2 younger brothers.  My mom and dad still live there, so I visit whenever I can.

In the spring of 2000, I graduated from Marshall University with a B.A. in Elementary Education.  I moved to Raleigh that summer and started my teaching career at The Franciscan School, where I taught 1st grade for five years.  I was hired at Leesville Elementary to teach 3rd grade in 2005 and then in 2008 I switched to 2nd grade.  I taught there until 2012 when I came to North Ridge.

On May 1, 2009 I married my best friend in Jamaica.  19 of our closest family and friends tagged along to help us celebrate.  It was an awesome adventure!  Soon after, my husband and I bought a house and moved into the North Ridge neighborhood. Our world was turned upside down in the BEST way on June 25, 2015 when my daughter, Elizabeth was born! Being a mom is the best job EVER (besides teaching, of course!) We also have a puppy named Bailey and 2 cats named Maddie and Coco.  When I’m not teaching I enjoy traveling, reading, working in the yard, watching movies, going to the beach and hanging out with family and friends.

Hello Unicorns! I'm Miss Laske and I am so excited to be a part of the North Ridge family! I grew up near Chicago, Illinois and moved to North Carolina just three years ago. I graduated from Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) and received a double major in Elementary Education and Health Education. I taught fifth grade in Cary before coming to North Ridge.

Besides teaching, some things that I love to do are travel and dance! I have been to 13 countries so far! My favorite travel destinations are The Galapagos Islands (because of the sea turtles) and London (because of Harry Potter). I would love to someday go on a safari! In the summers I choreograph and coach high school dance teams throughout the midwest!

My goal as a teacher is to make every student feel accepted, respected, and valued. I hope to instill the values of Respect, Effort, and Positivity in my classroom! I can't wait for a great year!

My name is Megan Lingenheld and I am so excited to be joining the North Ridge Elementary UNICORNS!

I grew up in Raleigh and went to school right down the street from North Ridge Elementary! Although I started at NC State, I got my undergraduate and Master's degree in Elementary Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where I taught for 4 years. I moved back to Raleigh in 2014 and have been teaching in Wake County ever since. This is my 11th year teaching and I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, but am so happy to be back in first!

When I am not at school, you will find me hiking with my dogs, Leo and Birdie, reading, doing yoga, traveling as many places as possible, and spending time with family and friends.

I am so excited to partner with you this year as we help your student be the best they can be!

I live in Raleigh with my husband, Joshua, my baby Maisie, and two very large, lazy cats named Delilah and Oscar. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching movies, visiting museums, and traveling. I am looking forward to having an awesome school year!

My name is Katie Neil and I am so excited to be a North Ridge Unicorn. I am a native of Raleigh, North Carolina; however, I spent four years by the beach attending the best college, the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I loved my time at the ocean; however, I truly enjoy exploring the city of Raleigh and I am glad to be back in my hometown. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 2013 and have been lucky enough to have taught in Wake County since.

When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, traveling, and cycling. My family and I attend every NC State football game and I love exploring coffee shops around the city. Our classroom is a safe place where students can explore and learn new things. We are a community focused on a productive learning environment for each student. I am so grateful to share this experience with you and excited to see what amazing things this school year has in store!

Hello!  My name is Heather Williams, and I am embarking on my eleventh year of teaching this 2019-20 school year! I have four years of experience working with special needs children across multiple grade levels in Georgia and one outstanding year of teaching kindergarten and five in second grade here at North Ridge Elementary School! This is my first year in 1st grade, and I’m thrilled to be here! Between the fabulous teachers, students, and parents at NRES, I have nothing but words of praise and gratitude! Teaching here has been a dream come true!

While I’m obviously passionate about teaching, I also enjoy curling up with my cat and a good book, as well as writing poetry, drawing, painting, photography, and scrap-booking in my spare time. You might even spot me at a local park or nature trail walking my Morkie with my husband on the weekends.

I look forward to another incredible year helping to inspire and empower my students to realize their full potential and let their light shine bright!
