Welcome to the Wake County Public School System. All new families who move to Wake County will be assigned to their base school and must register there. Then you can also request a transfer to one of your choice options.
For new families interested in Lufkin, you can register with us directly if we are your base school. Please see the process below for instructions. For more detailed instructions and FAQ's about enrollment to Wake County Public Schools, please refer to Student Assignment.
New students should print the registration checklist and the enrollment packet. In addition, please fill out the form for the grade level your student will entering in.
What you will need to register your child:
- Parent picture ID
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of residence-current electric, gas or water bill, current lease, settlement statement, or purchase agreement within 45 days of closing
- Withdrawal form-if the change is after the first of school.
- Last report card
- Test scores
- Completed registration form
- Immunization and Health Assessment Form
State law requires that every child entering public schools in N.C. for the first time receive a health assessment. The medical provider, parent or guardian must provide a completed health assessment form to the school on or before the child's first day of attendance.
North Carolina law now requires TDAP and Meningococcal vaccines for entry into 7th grade.
