Ms. Casey Bingham
Casey Bingham is a third year Art teacher. Ms. Bingham graduated from Appalachian State University in 2016 with a Bachelors in Art Education. She is an Alumni of Wake County Public Schools and is honored to be giving back to the county she calls home. She is Level 1 Google Educator Certified. As an Artist and Educator, she is passionate about encouraging her students to express themselves authentically, think creatively and try new ideas.
Ms. Rebekah Haithcock
Rebekah Haithcock is a proud graduate of Campbell University and North Carolina Central University. When not in the library, she enjoys reading, singing, Zumba, and kickboxing.
Ms. Gina Miller
Gina Miller will be in her 15th year teaching Physical Education in Wake County and her second year at Hortons Creek. She has been married to her husband J for 12 years and together they have two sons ages 10 and 3 as well as a dog named Cooper. Mrs. Miller was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Raleigh in 2004. Her favorite sports growing up were volleyball, softball, and all things on the lake. During college, she spent her summers teaching water skiing at summer camps in both Maine and Pennsylvania. She loves being active with her family and students, and looks forward to another great year at HC!
Ms. Laura Pomes
Laura Pomes is originally from Long Island, New York. Mrs. Pomes moved to North Carolina in 2007 with her husband Anthony after completing her Master's degree at Queens College in Elementary Education. They have two sons, Nicholas (4th grade) and Vincent (1st grade). Science has always been her passion, so she is very excited to be teaching science this year to all the Hortons Creek Hawks!! Experiments in the classroom and hands on experiences bring so much excitement into the learning environment. Mrs. Pomes hopes her passion and excitement allow her students to grow their love of science as well. When she is not teaching, she loves to shop, read, go on road trips, spend time with her family, and cook/bake. She also loves to watch cooking shows, and travel channel along with anything on HGTV.
Ms. Jaime Renville
Jaime Renville is a California native enjoying her time getting to know North Carolina. Mrs. Renville graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design, and began pursuing her Art Education teaching license while in California at California State University of Long Beach prior to her NC move. She is currently in the process of completing the transition to her North Carolina K-12 Art licensure.
She has lived in several different places including Germany, Texas, Washington and Colorado, and with all of the places she's lived it is her hope to bring her appreciation of different cultures into your Hawk's education. Outside of the classroom Jaime enjoys reading, pursuing art, and spending time with her husband and family. Art is her passion, and she can’t wait to share her creativity, and love of learning with your Hawk!
Ms. Jasmin Rowdy
Jasmin Rowdy is an eighth year educator, was born and raised in North Carolina and a proud NCSU alum (GO PACK)! She is a huge advocate for all things education but is most passionate about ensuring that all students have what they need to be successful & making learning memorable, meaningful and exciting. When she is not with students or tinkering with school projects, you can probably find her near any body of water! She also loves painting, traveling, reading, spending time with friends and family, and learning a new skill or hobby. She is thrilled about starting another year at Hortons Creek teaching STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and looks forward to getting to know all of the students and families!
Ms. Rachel Sanders
Rachel Sanders is thrilled to be joining the team as music teacher at HCES this year! Ms. Sanders comes to Wake County from Perquimans County High School, where she served as the Theater and Choral director for 3 years. Before entering a career in public education, Ms. Sanders ran her own private voice studio, served as a Theater Director at Artios Academies, taught with The South Carolina Children’s Theater, and acted professionally with The Logos Theater and the Applied Theater Center in Greenville, SC. During this time, she sang as a mezzo-soprano with the Rivertree Singers, with whom she toured the southeast in elite choral festivals. Ms. Sanders has performed all over the world, including Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and across the United States in countless concerts and performed in over 20 main stage productions. Some of her favorite roles have been Maria in The Sound of Music, Marmee in Little Women, Laurey in Oklahoma, and Queen Aggravain in Once Upon a Mattress. Ms. Sanders holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Furman University in Greenville, SC, where she specialized in vocal/choral music as a performer and a director.
While she loves to perform, teaching is her passion. It is a joy and an honor to share music and its ability to change lives for the better. She believes that the arts have the power to foster community, compassion for one another, character, a strong work ethic, increased intellect, and a deeper understanding of who we are as individual humans and as a people. She is excited to teach the students of Hortons Creek Elementary and to unveil more of the beauty they hold inside through the arts!
Ms. Christine Smith
Christine Smith has taught in Wake County Public Schools for 14 years. Mrs. Smith will serve as the AIG teacher and Testing Coordinator again this year and is excited to teach the enrichment special--Master Minds--for all students in grades 3-5. She is passionate about teaching critical thinking and creating problem solvers in specials and through math club. She and her husband, also a Wake County teacher, live in Raleigh with two children. Mary is a sophomore at Broughton and Henry is a sophomore at NC State studying environmental science. In her spare time, you most likely will find her nose in a book or solving puzzles!
