Ms. BruberI am so excited to start this adventure with HCES. I will be one of the CCR-K-5 teachers. I have been teaching special education for 16 years. I have taught resource, inclusion, and self-contained classes in Virginia, Texas, and North Carolina. I have a Master's and Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University. I have three children. I love hanging with my family, taking pictures, baking sweet treats, and making photo books!! We also have two labs. They are brothers named Aus and Tex! We loved living in Austin, TX! We just moved to NC last year! My husband’s job brought us back here! He works at Imangi Studios as a 3-D Character and Environment Artist! I’m pretty proud of him! We love being closer to our big family in Virginia Beach! Can’t wait to get to know everyone and be part of an amazing team at Hortons Creek!!!
Ms. CouncilMy name is Mandy and I am the ECS teacher at Hortons Creek Elementary. My brother Matthew has Down syndrome, and I have been working with people with disabilities for basically my entire life. I received a Master's degree in Special Education from NC State University (go Pack!!!) in 1996 and, since then, I have taught EMH II (Educable Mental Handicap grades 3-5), CC II (Cross- Categorical grades 3-5), Pre-K/K DD (Developmental Delay), ID-Mild 1 (Intellectual Disability grades K-2), and LIMS (Learning Impaired Moderate to Severe, grades K-2), and I am thrilled to be teaching ECS I/II this year (Extended Content Standards, grades K-5). Although the names of the classes have changed over the years, the kids are always awesome and I love being their teacher! I have three children of my own -- Erica is 16, Macy is almost 14, and Chase is 12 -- and I live in Cary. I enjoy working out, going to the beach or to the mountains, reading, and eating sushi. I also love making new friends and I can't wait to meet you! :-)
Ms. LewittI was a WCPSS student and am now a WCPSS teacher! I am a recent graduate from William Peace University graduating with my Bachelor's degree and dual license in Elementary and Special Education! I was inspired to become a special education teacher after watching the positive impact special education teachers had on my family when providing help and services to my siblings throughout school. I love listening to podcasts and reading books to learn new things! I am recently married and my husband and I love to travel. I am very excited about our new staff, school, and all the ways we are going to do school different this year.
