Hello, Oak Grove family! We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

We had such an exciting week at Oak Grove last week!

On Thursday, March 24, our Otter Singers performed during the school day for the school during two assemblies and then later that evening during a family performance in the gym. We must thank Ms. Snider for all of her hard work and dedication. She is such a treasure to the Oak Grove community.

The Scholastic Book Fair also kicked off last week. It will continue during the week of March 28. The Scholastic Book Fair flyer has all the important information. Thank you to Julie Steet and the amazing PTA volunteers for making the Book Fair happen this year.

On Monday, March 21, our new Receptionist, Traci Cooper, officially started at Oak Grove. Please help us welcome Ms. Cooper to our school. We’re so excited to have her come to us with so much experience. She previously worked at Alston Ridge Elementary, another WCPSS Year-Round school, as their receptionist.

On Friday, March 25, we said “Goodbye” to Track 4 as they tracked out for 3 weeks. On Monday, March 28, we welcome back Track 1. We can’t wait to see all our Track 1 Otters on Monday!

Read to Achieve Parent Meeting for 3rd Grade:

There will be a brief Read to Achieve Program informational meeting for all Track 1 third grade parents on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Topics for discussion include the legislation behind the Read to Achieve program, Good Cause Exemptions, and next steps for students. Please use the google meet link to join at 11:30 am or 4:15 pm.

Eating Out with The Otters to Support our PTA:

Oak Grove Elementary PTA is having a fundraiser at City Barbeque Cary on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Order online or head on over to show your support and enjoy some BBQ—we’ll get 20% of sales from everyone who shares this post or uses our fundraiser code when they order at  or in the City BBQ app!

Our fundraiser code is FundA (enter in the prom code box)

Outdoor Lunch Update:

Due to an insufficient number of volunteers, we've had to cancel our outdoor lunch schedule for the past 2 weeks. It's very important to us to provide this opportunity to our students, so we've come up with another plan. Classroom teachers have been informed that if they would like to have their class eat outside, they may do so, if they are scheduled to eat outside for that week and they have a parent volunteer that is willing to come in and monitor their class for outdoor eating.  Parent volunteers would only be responsible for watching their child's class. If you would like to monitor your own child's class for outdoor lunch, please reach out to your child's teacher for more information.  We hope this provides more opportunities for our students to enjoy the nice weather while eating their lunch. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Ms. Tysor at

PTA Announces Spring Spirit Wear Sale:

Our Spring Spirit store is open for business! We have new shirts and hats for sale through Friday, April 1st. This is your last opportunity to grab some Otter Gear this year!

Updates to the When to Return Page:

WCPSS health guidance follows requirements from the NC Department of Health and Human Services and recommendations from Wake County Public Health. This week, there were updates made to the When to Return page. Please continue to monitor your child’s health closely. You can see the updates here:

PTA Partners to Provide Track-out Opportunity (Spring Addition):

Over The Moon Play Space is offering play-based STEM and Art track out and summer camps, with fun themes each week. They are going to donate 10% of all camp revenue booked with code OGES between now and the end of Spring to the Oak Grove PTA!  Go to to learn about the camps and book a spot before they fill up!

Track Change Requests:

Please click here to read more about track change requests for the 2022-2023 school year. You do not need to do anything if you would like your child/children to stay on the same track for next year.

Chromebook UPDATE from Technology Services:

Technology Services has seen an increase in security issues due to WCPSS devices not being restarted regularly. Restarting a device allows updates for new security and productivity features. Students and staff should restart their WCPSS devices once per week. Consider setting a specific day for this, such as a Restart Wednesday or Restart Friday. (Important: Closing the lid only locks the device and does not shut it down.) Restarting also can resolve many other common issues impacting student devices. Always restart a WCPSS device before contacting the Help Desk.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ms. Tysor or me with any questions you may have. We are happy to help.

All my best,

Stephanie Bias, Principal
