Hello, Oak Grove family! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. On Friday, December, Quarter 2 interim reports were sent home with Track 3 & 4 students. Please reach out to your teacher with any questions.

Upcoming this week, we have a track change during the week and an Early Release Day. Monday, December 5, is the last day of Quarter 2 for Track 1. It is their Track-out day and an Early Release Day for all students. Students will dismiss at 1:45 on Monday. On Tuesday, December 6, Track 2 returns from Track-out. We have missed Track 2, and we look forward to seeing them back on Tuesday.

    Student Assignment Cards:

On Wednesday, November 30, Track 1, 3, & 4, 23-24 school year student assignment cards were sent home from Oak Grove. Track 2 cards will go home on December 6. Please look over the information on the card. If you have concerns about the information on the card, please make sure you look at the back of the card for additional information. If you contact Ms. Dahlhoff, she can only answer questions. We are unable to make Student Assignment changes at the school level.

    Carpool Reminders:

For our families that use our carpool lines, we have a few reminders to keep all of our Otters safe:

    1. Please make sure that you use the entire carpool line. Especially in the morning, we have had some cars “cut the snake” early in our drop off time. This has led to cars backing up out on Penny Road, blocking visibility. In the morning, our carpool line is in full use until at least 9:00 AM, and on rainy days and Mondays even later. We want our arrival to end by 9:10 so your Otter is in class and ready to learn at 9:15.
    2. If you must use your cell phone, please make sure you are “hands free” while driving. Holding your phone and trying to navigate carpool is not safe for our students or staff.
    3. Please make sure your Otter is on the passenger side of the vehicle and ready to go when the car stops. You should be putting on coats prior to reaching the cones. Coats, backpacks and
    4. In the afternoon, please make sure your number is visible. If you have lost your official Oak Grove carpool tag, please contact Ms. Cooper in the front office. We are happy to provide another tag.

You can also scroll down to the end of the Splash under “Older Splash Reminders”. There are more helpful hints to keep our carpool line running smoothly.

    Dear Oak Grove Families,

I have had the honor to serve as your Principal for the last 4 years. Oak Grove was my dream school even before I was given the opportunity to work here. This community of learners, families, and staff have been an incredible blessing. We have weathered some challenges, and we have shown that we are better and stronger together. I have truly found joy in the journey here at the Grove. After over 30 years working for Wake County Public Schools, the time has come to make a change and think about how I can make a difference by serving in roles other than Principal, as I plan to retire at the end of December. You will have an opportunity to participate in the process of choosing the next Principal for Oak Grove, so watch for communication about the details. As always, thank you for your support!

    Stephanie Bias

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ms. Tysor or me with any questions you may have. We are happy to help.

    All my best,

Hello, Oak Grove family! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Friday, November 11, was the Veteran’s Day Holiday so there was no school for students. Veteran’s Day is very special to me and my family.  My father served in the US Army, and my brother-in-law recently retired from the US Army after 30 years of service. My sister has been a military wife for the entire 28 years of her marriage, and her service is an important contribution to our country.

I have a few words to share in honor of Veterans Day:

Service before self: three words that define each person who has worn the uniform of our great nation.  Every Veteran has sacrificed, and we would like to thank you for that solemn commitment. To the families of those who have served, we recognize your sacrifice is great and your contribution to the service is unmatched.  We thank you, as well, for the families of all those who serve.

Thursday, November 10, was Track-out Day for Track 2. We hope you enjoy your time off, and we will see you back on December 6. On Monday, November 14, we will welcome Track 3 back from your Track-out.

Hello, Oak Grove family! We hope everyone stayed safe over the weekend! Hurricane Ian caused a number of disruptions and unsafe conditions, and we hope that all our Otters weathered the storm.

We are sad that the cancelation of school on Friday meant that we missed our movie night and Book Fair night. The PTA is working on providing other community involvement opportunities. For the Book Fair, please feel free to stop by school in the morning from 8:45-9:15. Also, the Book Fair will be open for a family shopping night on Tuesday, October 4, from 4:15-6:15.

Friday, September 30, was the last day of Quarter 1 for Tracks 2, 3, & 4. Report cards for Quarter 1 will go home on Tuesday, October 11, for Tracks 1, 2, & 3. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon to schedule Quarter 1 conferences.

Monday, October 3, we welcome Track 1 back from track-out! We missed you, Track 1! Track 4 is now tracked out until October 25.

This week is Custodial Appreciation Week. We appreciate all the hard work of our custodian, Jorge. If you would like to send in a card, we are collecting them to present to Jorge in the front office.

Scholastic Book Fair continues at OGES!:

Oak Grove PTA is sponsoring the Scholastic Book Fair, September 26-October 7! We’re so excited that PTA is providing students this opportunity to explore and purchase books. For more information about the Book Fair, please check out these letters:
