Hello, Oak Grove family! We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

We have some exciting events at Oak Grove this week! Beginning on Monday, the Scholastic Book Fair kicks off. Please see the linked flyer for more information.

On Thursday, March 24, our Otter Singers will perform during the school day for the school during two assemblies. That evening, at 6:30 PM, we will have a family performance in the gym. Also, the Scholastic Book Fair will be open that afternoon from 5:00-6:30 for families to explore the books together. We’re so excited to have an opportunity to open our doors to our Otter Community!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to Oak Grove!

If you are interested in volunteering at the book fair, please sign up here.  If you have any questions regarding volunteering, please contact Tandy Kauffman at mgktdk@gmail.com.  We are accepting donations for our All for Books campaign.  We strive to provide a book to any child at Oak Grove that may not be able to afford one otherwise.  No donation is too small, and every penny will go towards providing books to children at our school.  If you are interesting in donating, please contact Julie Steet at  jeherbst@yahoo.com.

Return of Outdoor Lunch:

Spring is in the air! We really want to provide outdoor eating for our Otters, but we need your help! In order to provide proper supervision, we will need parent volunteers to help monitor students both indoors and outdoors during lunch each day.  If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here.  We will be providing some guidelines for volunteer participation and cancelation, as well as some criteria for inclement weather days.

Previous Splash Announcements

WCPSS Message to all Families (March 3):

Effective March 7, face coverings are recommended but not required in all settings and all school-related activities. These changes are being made following new guidance from state and local health officials. Current health protocols can be found online. Students and staff are encouraged to get vaccinated if they have not already done so.

Message from Ms. Ormond:

Our amazing ESL teacher, Ms. Ormond, recently had her last day at Oak Grove. She wanted to send the following message to the families and students that she served:

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to my Oak Grove family. My parents’ health has declined recently and for the time being, I will be caring for them full-time. I will miss you all so much! Thank you for the privilege of working with your amazing children. I have learned a great deal about kindness and service in my eight years at Oak Grove.

Sincerely,

Robyn Ormond - ESL Teacher

We will miss her so much at Oak Grove! Ms. Tysor and I have been able to recommend a candidate to fill the ESL position. As soon as we have approval from Human Resources, we will share more information.

Chromebook UPDATE from Technology Services:

Technology Services has seen an increase in security issues due to WCPSS devices not being restarted regularly. Restarting a device allows updates for new security and productivity features. Students and staff should restart their WCPSS devices once per week. Consider setting a specific day for this, such as a Restart Wednesday or Restart Friday. (Important: Closing the lid only locks the device and does not shut it down.) Restarting also can resolve many other common issues impacting student devices. Always restart a WCPSS device before contacting the Help Desk.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ms. Tysor or me with any questions you may have. We are happy to help.

All my best,

Stephanie Bias, Principal
