Hello Huskies,

We have completed a successful first week of school.  Many thanks to our families for helping in the many transitions that are needed with students to get back into the school routines.

This past week, administrators met with students in grades 9-11 in grade level assemblies to review behavior and dress code expectations as well as consequences for violating the discipline policies.  Please take time to review information found in the WCPSS Student Parent Handbook.  If you haven’t already, please sign the acknowledgement page of the handbook so that students can submit them.  Due to the inclement weather day, juniors had their assembly today and seniors will have their assembly on Tuesday, September 5.

If your student is a bus rider, access daily bus updates here - https://www.wcpss.net/Page/49596.

School communication and materials (i.e. home mailings, yearbook, awards, software applications, etc.) that include your child's name for the 2023-2024 school year are provided by the data listed in PowerSchool. If you and your child are in need of a name change for these communications, please fill out the preferred name change form . This must be completed and turned in to the front office no later than Tuesday, September 5.  Forms can also be emailed to kohara@wcpss.net or faxed to 919-670-4212.

Registration for the October 10 PSAT is winding down.  Students who participate gain access to My College Quickstart, Khan Academy for SAT prep, and more.  Juniors are encouraged to take the test for National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Scholarship competitions.  Registration fee is $17.  Fee waivers are available for juniors meeting eligibility criteria.  Register here.  Please note – complete registration includes payment after submitting Google Form.  Don’t delay.  Registration ends on Friday, September 8.  There are no extensions.  You must fill out the registration form and submit payment at the links above.

Course correction requests have ended, and we are now focusing on getting students settled.  We invite you to aid your students in transitioning to the new school year by considering a success plan and how to balance their time well.  Partner with your student’s teachers and counselor as needed.

Tuesday, September 12 is our Fall Meet the Teacher Night.  This is your opportunity to meet face to face with your child’s teachers and learn more about the courses they are taking this semester.  Doors open at 5:45 pm.

Picture Days are next week.  Students should have brought home information regarding purchase options this week that they received in Husky Headquarters.  Ninth grade yearbook photos will be Wednesday, September 6.  Tenth and eleventh grade yearbook photos will be Friday, September 8.  Seniors who have not had taken their formal senior portrait photo can do so on Friday, September 8.  Seniors must sign up for an appointment slot in Student Services.   Seniors are recommended to bring a white undershirt for tuxedo pics and a strapless shirt or shirt where straps can be removed for gown/drape pics.

Driver’s Education provided by Jordan Driving School is switching to a 100% online registration system for the 2023-2024 schoolyear.  Registration opens September 13.  Learn more about the program here.
