Hello Huskies,

We are just TEN days away from the start of school!  Access important start of school information from the main page of our website, https://www.wcpss.net/HeritageHS.  Look for “Important Back to School Information” at the top of the page.   Spend time reviewing information and taking action where needed.  Links will continue to be added and updated as we get closer to the first day of school.

PowerSchool is open for students to view tentative schedules.  Final schedules are distributed during homeroom (Husky Headquarters) on the first day of school. Course correction information and instructions on how to request a course correction are included in the “Important Back to School Information” link on our homepage or here.  A few reminders:  All course corrections should be sent to heritagehsschedule@wcpss.net.  If you attempt to email a counselor, it will be rerouted.  Duplicate requests do not decrease time waiting for a response.  Please remember to offer patience to our staff as we are working to ensure each student has a complete and correct schedule.

Early Start Day (New Student Orientation) for 9th grade students and all new-to-Heritage High School students is Thursday, August 24, from 7:00 am to 11:30 am.  Programming begins at 7:30 am.  Upon arrival, students should report directly to the auditorium.  Students will receive course supply information, school tours, meet teachers, and can purchase Husky Spirit Wear during this event.  In the evening, parents of 9th grade students and new-to Heritage High students are invited to join us for New Parent Night at 5:30 pm.

All students participating in Career and College Promise dual enrollment courses for this fall semester should provide a copy of their community college schedule and WCPSS Dual Enrollment form to lweaver2@wcpss.net to have their HHS schedule adjusted.  Students: be sure to check your WCPSS email for any communication if there may be a conflict with our bell schedule or if additional clarification is needed.

Senior Announcements & Information:

Make plans to attend Senior Night on Thursday, August 2h at 6:30 pm.  Key information will be shared regarding senior year and post-high school planning success.  In the event of a scheduling conflict, the information will be posted to the Senior Website.

North Carolina state immunization law requires that all students are up to date with immunizations by the first day of school.  For us, this is August 28.   There are no extensions for this date.  Seniors are now required to have the meningococcal vaccine.  Also, for Seniors a 2nd meningococcal vaccine may be required for students by 17 years of age or entering 12th grade. Check with your doctor to ensure your child is up to date and provide the school with an updated copy of the shot record.  If you do not have a healthcare provider, you can call 919-562-6300 to schedule an appointment at the Health and Human Services Northern Regional Center.  Do not delay in providing this information to our school.  You can email the records to kohara@wcpss.net, fax to 919-670-4212, or drop off records in the main office, Monday-Friday, 7:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Seniors can still apply to have a reduced course load and/or graduate mid-year.  Access the reduced course load application here.  Applications to graduate mid-year can be found here.  The deadline for both applications is Friday, August 25.

Seniors are reminded to complete the task of getting your senior portrait for the yearbook.  Go to their website here or call (800) 343-5735 to schedule. This is a busy time for Prestige.  Continue to call if there are no appointments available.  They will be on campus for make-up pictures on Friday, September 8.  More information about the make-up picture date can be found here.  Seniors may sign up for an appointment time in Student Services starting on August 30.
