Hello Huskies,

Friday, March 31 is a teacher workday and there is no school for students.  The following week, April 3-7, is Spring Break.  We hope students enjoy the time off.

The building will be closed from noon on March 31 through April 9.  The office will reopen at 7:00 am on Monday, April 10.

The last make-up work deadline of the quarter is Thursday, March 30.  Check PowerSchool and communicate with teachers as needed to support a strong finish for quarter three.

Membership decisions for National Honor Society will be sent via email to all applicants on Friday, March 31.

Course registration for next year in PowerSchool will close for students tonight.  Students will receive a list of their requested courses in Husky Headquarters on Wednesday, April 12.  Please review this list with your student and make any necessary changes.  Return the list to Student Services.  Contact your child’s counselor with questions.

We are offering the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program "refresher course" in April to all 12th graders who are currently enrolled in English.  If you do NOT wish your child to take a written screening test for depression and participate in the SOS Program in school, please contact your child’s English teacher. If we do not hear back from you, we will assume that your child has permission to participate in this program.

WCPSS will host Xtreme Beginnings, a career & college preparation event for high school students on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the McKimmon Center at NCSU. We are in need of volunteers to be interviewers for our mock interviews. We are also looking for businesses that are hiring (part-time, internships and/or full-time). Click here for more information about the event. If you are looking to hire and want a table, click HERE. If you are able to participate, you can sign up here. After you sign up, you will receive more information closer to the event date. Feel free to share this message and invite others to join you for our event. Email Dawn Beaster at dbeaster@wcpss.net with any questions.

The ASVAB assessment will be offered on April 25th. Any 10, 11, or 12th grader interested in completing the ASVAB assessment can sign up during advisory in the month of March. This assessment measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) can help you and your high schooler make an action plan to gain entry into their career field of choice via college, work-based learning, and/or the Military. After taking the ASVAB, your child will receive an access code they can use to create an account. This unlocks the career exploration tools you can use together to identify careers they are best suited for and explore the various paths they can take after graduation. Any questions, contact Dawn Beaster at dbeaster@wcpss.net
