Recent Events and Unity

Hello, Huskies,

At this time in our lives, we are not only dealing with COVID-19 and the impacts it has had on our world, but also the troubling events playing out in Minneapolis and across the country.  I recognize that these events impact all of us, but may have a greater impact on certain members of our immediate community.  I want to take a moment to echo the statement made by Board Chair Sutton and Superintendent Moore: To be sure, the racist actions of a few do not define our school system.  However, we cannot be silent in the face of racism in our community or beyond.  Our  Core Beliefs compel us to see, to understand and to interrupt racism in all its forms.  Let us all seek to find our way through this difficult time.  I encourage everyone in the Husky community to choose love and not hate.  Recent events remind us that we need to keep our equity work at the forefront of what we do.  We can take good care of one another by ensuring our words and actions model our core beliefs and build strong relationships throughout the community.  Thank you for staying Husky strong.

If you wish to participate, WCPSS is holding a #NoHateInWake discussion/chat tomorrow at 6:00 pm.  Please see the link on Twitter to register.
