Principal Weekly Message to Seniors
Posted by Scott Lyons on 5/22/2020 9:45:00 AM
Hello, Seniors,
The deadline for seniors to log in and review their information for the virtual graduation ceremony is today at 6:00 pm. Seniors can review and leave a message if something should be corrected. Those who desire to upload a cap and gown photo can also do so on this site. Students who do not have either a senior portrait or photo in cap and gown on file will have the current photo from PowerSchool used for the ceremony. The website is www.wcpssclassof2020.com
If you have not already, please go to the senior page of the school website to view updates and a list of our honor graduates. There you will find details about Tuesday, May 26. Senior drop off and pick up event as well as the parade. Our PTSA is excited to be able to provide every senior with a Heritage High Class of 2020 yard sign. We hope many, if not all seniors can show up to get one. All these activities will take place in the rear of the school. Students should park in an available parking space and walk to tables they need. Please remind your senior to adhere to social distancing guidelines when on campus. All who plan to report to campus are asked to view this information prior to arriving to help all who are on campus stay safe. Yearbooks will be on sale from 1pm – 4pm during the event. Only cards will be accepted.
Some parents have asked about providing signs and posters for the senior parade. You are welcome to bring them and set them up on Monday. They can be a stick in the ground on foundation drive or on a fence in the student parking lot. You are not permitted to put signs on the baseball or softball fields. All signs must be removed by May 27. As a reminder, we are held to social distancing guidelines, but SGA is excited to offer seniors this fun opportunity.
In lieu of Senior Night, a special Senior Awards video is tentatively scheduled for release on June 8. Award recipients will be invited to campus to pick up certificates and other award items on June 9, between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Parents and guardians will receive communication in advance if the student will be featured in the video and has any items for pick up.
Seniors have until the end of next week to complete their graduate intention survey. This is mandatory in order to be cleared for graduation. Seniors are able to indicate which college should receive their final transcript and whether or not a final transcript needs to be sent to NCAA. Counselors are reaching out directly to seniors who have not done so.
Warm regards,
Scott Lyons
