Due to health concerns and trends with COVID-19, the Wake County Public School System has decided to delay bringing students back on campus in Plan B. Instead, all WCPSS students will begin the school year in online instruction. The first day of school remains August 17.  The first two weeks of school for all students will focus on orientation, meet and greet opportunities with students, families, and teachers, and distribution of supplies. Students will not be initially divided into groups A, B, C during the first two weeks of school.

As part of these changes WCPSS has announced that all students will have a second opportunity to apply for the WCPSS Virtual Academy on July 27 - July 29. The application will close on July 29 at 5 p.m.  If you have applied to the WCPSS Virtual Academy and would like to withdraw or change your application, please contact Pleasant Grove Elementary directly.  You can email Principal Batten at bbatten@wcpss.net.

School Update:  As many local news media outlets have reported, due to trends with COVID-19 in the area, WCPSS is now considering the option of opening the school year with online instruction for all students. A decision by WCPSS about this change could be made as early as this Tuesday, July 21. Should WCPSS decide to modify Plan B, another registration window for the Virtual Academy will be opened. For more information click here.

Virtual Academy: Regardless of the changes for opening schools that WCPSS is considering, the Virtual Academy will continue.  All K-12 families have the option to choose the Virtual Academy if they are not ready or able to return to a school campus. The Virtual Academy allows students to maintain continuity of a fully online learning environment regardless of any decisions made by the state to move into Plan A, B, or C throughout the school year. Students who sign up for Virtual Academy are still part of Pleasant Grove and will be taught by Pleasant Grove teachers to the degree possible.  Registration for the Virtual Academy is open now.  Click here for more information or to register your child.  The deadline for registration is July 20. Should WCPSS decide to modify Plan B, another registration window for the Virtual Academy will be opened.

WCPSS has created a Return-to-Campus Guide for Families that describes how all district schools will start the 2020-2021 school year on August 17.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic Pleasant Grove Elementary will begin the 2020-2021 school year on Plan B.  This plan uses a blend of face-to-face instruction and online learning with students to support social distancing and student safety. For your convenience a copy of the family guide is linked at the bottom of this page.

Pleasant Grove families also will have the option to choose the WCPSS Virtual Academy if they are not ready or able to return to the school campus. More details about the Virtual Academy are listed on page 6 of the Return-to-Campus Guide for Families and available online at www.wcpss.net/Virtual-Academy. Students can apply to WCPSS Virtual Academy beginning the week of July 13.  The deadline for registration into the Virtual Academy is July 20.

WCPSS is exploring options for PreK students and students who participate in regional special education programs to attend school on a daily basis as soon as is feasible.

Admittedly, all families should know that this information is subject to change. If state or local requirements differ from the guidance provided by WCPSS, then all school communities will follow the stricter requirements. Please check the district’s COVID-19 site regularly for the latest information: http://wcpss.net/covid19.
