Heritage High Families,

 

Thank you for your patience and flexibility during today’s threat. We acknowledge that this is a frustrating and challenging situation for our students, staff and families.

 

Shortly after 1 p.m., a threat to our school was made over the telephone. We immediately contacted law enforcement and WCPSS Security. In consultation with law enforcement, and out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated students and staff to our stadium. I am proud of the way staff and students remained calm and followed instructions.

 

Law enforcement officials have searched the building and found no evidence to support the threat. Know that anyone found responsible for threatening to bring harm to our school will face disciplinary action in accordance with WCPSS policies. They could also face criminal charges.

 

Parents, please partner with us in reminding your students that making threats is a serious offense and will carry significant consequences. 

 

We remain grateful for the swift response from WCPSS Security and law enforcement. They work closely with us to keep all students and staff safe.

Heritage High School staff and families,

 

Thank you for your cooperation during today’s event. Please note that we will adjust dismissal procedures this afternoon to accommodate the ongoing investigation.

 

Student drivers are being released now. Carpool will run through the stadium parking lot at the back of the school. Enter the back parking lot and student pickup will be at the stadium entrance. Students have their belongings. Bus and vendor transportation will run as scheduled.

 

All on-campus after-school activities are canceled.

 

Additional information will be shared following the completion of the investigation.

Poco después de las 1 p.m., nuestra escuela recibió una amenaza por teléfono. Inmediatamente nos comunicamos con las autoridades del orden público y con el departamento de Seguridad de WCPSS. En consulta con las autoridades y por precaución, evacuamos a los estudiantes y al personal a nuestro estadio. Estoy orgulloso de la forma en que el personal y los estudiantes mantuvieron la calma y siguieron las instrucciones.
