We hope that all of our pandas are as excited to start the year as we are!  There are several important upcoming dates that we wanted to share with everyone.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 24! 

We will be holding our Meet the Teacher event for first through fifth graders! Meet the Teacher is a drop-in event where students can see their classroom, meet their teacher, and drop off school supplies.  In order to reduce traffic both inside classrooms and in the parking lot, we are staggering arrival this year by last name. 

4:30 - 5:15: Students with last names beginning with A-L

5:15 - 6:00: Students with last names beginning with M-Z

If you are unable to attend during your assigned time slot or if your family has multiple last names, just come when you are able.  However, we do ask all who are able to adhere to their time slots to help with crowding.  

Incoming kindergarten pandas are encouraged to come during this Meet the Teacher Event on August 24 to enjoy a Kindergarten Panda Party Scavenger Hunt.  This will give our new pandas a chance to explore the building with their parents prior to their staggered entry day.  Please note that kindergarten students will not be assigned to classes until after staggered entry is complete and each child only attends school for one day during staggered entry.  Keep an eye on your mailbox for a postcard with your assigned staggered entry date.  Kindergarten Meet the Teacher will occur on Friday, September 1 from 9:30 to 10:30.

Popsicles in the Park

The fabulous Penny Road PTA is sponsoring an informal community-building event leading up to the start of school.  The event will be held both at the Penny Road Elementary playground and at the Carolina Pines playground in Raleigh.  Check out the flyer for details! We hope to see you there!

In addition to fun and popsicles, we will also have school supplies available for any families that need help getting ready for the new year.
