WECHS Principal's Weekly Message 6/24/2022

Happy Friday!

Hopefully, everyone is finding time to do what brings them joy during the summer break! Rest, relax, and recharge.

A group of WECHS students and Mr. Williams are in Nashville, Tennessee this week competing at the International H.O.S.A conference! Wish them good luck and safe travels.

Last night, the WECHS American Red Cross Club (ARCC) was recognized as the 2022 American Red Cross Volunteer Services Partner of the Year. The ARCC members volunteered over 1000 hours. That is a 287% increase over last year! Members have helped with the NC State Fair, created Veteran's Day cards, sponsored a blood drive, participated in Prepare with Pedro training, and supported international services through mapping events.

The WECHS Office will be closed the week of July 4th.

WECHS Office Summer Hours

WECHS PHS Office will be open from 7:30-2:30 Monday-Thursday for any in-person needs. Please call ahead to make sure someone is available to complete your paperwork, at 919-212-5800 (“0”).

The WECHS Summer letter will be sent to all current and new students via mail and School Messenger in early July.

Congratulations to the WECHS H.E.A.L.S. teams for amazing presentations and calls to action! We look forward to their positive impact on our community and globally.

The WCPSS School Board approved updated calendars with early release dates (all calendars) A few changes were made to the proposed early release dates. We will dismiss at approximately 12:00 noon on those days. Student bus riders in college classes will need to make alternate arrangements for afternoon transportation on those days so as to not miss the WTCC classes at 12:00 and 1:00.

Apply for Free and Reduced Lunch for 2022-2023

All students received free school meals this year supported by federal funding due to the pandemic. This funding is set to end on June 30, 2022. In order to receive free or reduced-price meals for the next school year, families need to submit a meal benefits application.

All families must complete an application for the 2022-2023 school year starting July 1 in order to receive benefits. Please allow 10 business days for processing.

Benefits of families applying online at www.MySchoolApps.com: It’s the fastest way to get a status. They will get an anticipated determination immediately. They will have a confirmation number that they can use to inquire about their status. And best of all, it avoids delays and mistakes.
