WECHS Principal's Weekly Message 5/20/2022
Happy Friday!
Whew! We are almost there! One more day of high school finals, then time for graduation as we send the amazing WECHS Class of 2022 on to bigger and better things.
The last day some teachers will be on campus is Wednesday, May 25th. Hopefully, grades will be finalized by that day. When grades are finalized, PowerSchool grade viewing access will be restored.
WECHS Office Summer Hours
WECHS PHS Office will be open from 7:30-2:30 Monday-Thursday for any in-person needs. Please call ahead to make sure someone is available to complete your paperwork, at 919-212-5800 (“0”). Cummings, Wooten, Paramore, Poole, and Abbott are employed June-July. Lachance will be on campus in June only.
(WTCC campuses are closed on Fridays in the summer and the air conditioning is turned off.)
Congratulations to the WECHS H.E.A.L.S. teams for amazing presentations and calls to action! We look forward to their positive impact on our community and globally.
The WCPSS School Board approved updated calendars with early release dates (all calendars). A few changes were made to the proposed early release dates. We will dismiss at approximately 12:00 noon on those days. Student bus riders in college classes will need to make alternate arrangements for afternoon transportation on those days so as to not miss the WTCC classes at 12:00 and 1:00.

TESTING
PHS Final Exams
Exam Information and Checkout Form
PHS high school final exams will be administered on May 19, 20, 23, and 24. Please do not plan to travel during these dates. Early testing requires submitting a request with supporting documentation to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for approval because North Carolina law requires that all final exams be administered in the last five days of the semester. Requests based on vacation travel are not granted by NCDPI.
Students are expected to be present on campus only on the days when they are scheduled to take an exam. Students who remain on campus after the exam to wait for bus transportation will participate in a supervised study hall. Buses will run on a regular schedule. Students will not have access to their phones during exams. If you need to reach them, call the main WECHS line: 919-212-5800.
Parents/guardians may choose to pick up students after the exam has ended if the student does not have another exam after. (Students cannot leave an exam session until it ends.) Unless this form linked above has been completed and turned in to Mr. Abbott by the morning of the exam day, students must be checked out using the standard checkout process inside the school building or picked up in carpool at the end of the day.
