WECHS Principal's Weekly Message 5/13/2022
We were so excited to celebrate our graduating seniors last night and can’t wait to hand them diplomas in just over a week! #Classof2022 Thank you to our staff and WTCC and WakeMed partners who made the event so special.
The WECHS Commencement Ceremony will be live-streamed at 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 24th for those not attending.
On Tuesday, at the WCPSS School Board Spotlight on Seniors, we celebrated Ladajah for all of her accomplishments despite adversity.
At the WCPSS Teacher of the Year celebration this week we celebrated Ms. Tyndall, the WECHS Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023 who will also be the CTE Teacher of the Year (more information to come on that great news!)
Ms. Kedrick was recognized yesterday afternoon as a Top Gizmos Leader in the district at a celebration at Frankie's!
A Class of 2021 WECHS alum, Jenny, was pinned Wednesday in the WTCC Dental Hygiene program! We are so proud of her.
All students not enrolled in WCPSS/WTCC summer classes will turn in their WCPSS device and charger prior to summer break. This would include any Chromebooks issued while in middle school. Students will be expected to use the new WCPSS Thinkpad during the 2022-2023 school year.
North Campus Spring Semester Textbooks:
All students should return their spring semester textbooks/materials prior to Thursday, May 19th (these were due after exams). Please do not wait until the fall as books have to be inventoried. We will come to your house.
North: Congratulations on completing the WTCC finals!
PHS: PHS high school final exams will be administered on May 19, 20, 23, and 24
PHS WTCC library is now closed on Fridays for the summer. Students have been notified. Students who have been approved to stay on campus after 3:00 will need to sit quietly on the benches in the lobby of our building, C.
Election season is upon us and all seats on the WCPSS school board will be on the ballot this fall. Stay informed and VOTE if you are able!
B.A.S.E. Movie Night has been rescheduled for May 20 at 3 p.m. on the PHS campus. PHS students can stay after their Friday exams and North students, come on over! A $5 donation to the 'Black Girls Code' gets you admission and snacks, popcorn, drinks, and fun!
The WECHS Anatomage team (a component of HOSA) will be competing in the May 27th qualifier. The Anatomage Tournament is a team-based competition to test students on their understanding and knowledge of anatomy. The students will work together to evaluate a cadaver from an Anatomage Table. The team members are John VK, Ananya T, Diya T, Eliana G, and Simran T.
On May 17th and 18th, the PHS campus will have exam review during the 1st two blocks and WECHS H.E.A.L.S. presentations after lunch. If you are interested in hearing about the great research these teams have been working on, please join us. On the 18th, following the interactive presentations, PHS will have our end-of-year awards presentations from the 9th and 10th-grade teachers.
The breakfast and lunch options May are linked here.
We may have early release days next year. These are tentatively scheduled for our calendar on 9/2, 11/22, 12/21, 1/13, 3/24, and 4/6. If approved, we would dismiss around 12:00. Students in WTCC classes will need to arrange transportation home on these days so they can attend their WTCC classes at 12 and 1.

PHS Final Exams
PHS high school final exams will be administered on May 19, 20, 23, and 24. Please do not plan to travel during these dates. Early testing requires submitting a request with supporting documentation to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for approval because North Carolina law requires that all final exams be administered in the last five days of the semester. Requests based on vacation travel are not granted by NCDPI.
Students are expected to be present on campus only on the days when they are scheduled to take an exam. Students who remain on campus after the exam to wait for bus transportation will participate in a supervised study hall. Buses will run on a regular schedule. Students will not have access to their phones during exams. If you need to reach them, call the main WECHS line: 919-212-5800.
Parents/guardians may choose to pick up students after the exam has ended if the student does not have another exam after. (Students cannot leave an exam session until it ends.) Unless this form linked above has been completed and turned in to Mr. Abbott by the morning of the exam day, students must be checked out using the standard checkout process inside the school building or picked up in carpool at the end of the day.
We just received a large supply of spirit wear, especially hoodies and sweatpants.

Daily Announcements are shared between campuses and read aloud on the PHS campus daily.
