WECHS Principal's Weekly Message 5/13/2022

Happy Friday!

We were so excited to celebrate our graduating seniors last night and can’t wait to hand them diplomas in just over a week! #Classof2022 Thank you to our staff and WTCC and WakeMed partners who made the event so special.

The WECHS Commencement Ceremony will be live-streamed at 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 24th for those not attending.

On Tuesday, at the WCPSS School Board Spotlight on Seniors, we celebrated Ladajah for all of her accomplishments despite adversity.

At the WCPSS Teacher of the Year celebration this week we celebrated Ms. Tyndall, the WECHS Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023 who will also be the CTE Teacher of the Year (more information to come on that great news!)

Ms. Kedrick was recognized yesterday afternoon as a Top Gizmos Leader in the district at a celebration at Frankie's!

A Class of 2021 WECHS alum, Jenny, was pinned Wednesday in the WTCC Dental Hygiene program! We are so proud of her.

Student Devices:

All students not enrolled in WCPSS/WTCC summer classes will turn in their WCPSS device and charger prior to summer break. This would include any Chromebooks issued while in middle school. Students will be expected to use the new WCPSS Thinkpad during the 2022-2023 school year.

North Campus Spring Semester Textbooks:

All students should return their spring semester textbooks/materials prior to Thursday, May 19th (these were due after exams).  Please do not wait until the fall as books have to be inventoried. We will come to your house.

Final Exams:

North: Congratulations on completing the WTCC finals!

PHS: PHS high school final exams will be administered on May 19, 20, 23, and 24

TESTING

PHS Final Exams

Exam Information and Checkout Form

PHS high school final exams will be administered on May 19, 20, 23, and 24. Please do not plan to travel during these dates. Early testing requires submitting a request with supporting documentation to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for approval because North Carolina law requires that all final exams be administered in the last five days of the semester. Requests based on vacation travel are not granted by NCDPI.

Students are expected to be present on campus only on the days when they are scheduled to take an exam. Students who remain on campus after the exam to wait for bus transportation will participate in a supervised study hall. Buses will run on a regular schedule. Students will not have access to their phones during exams. If you need to reach them, call the main WECHS line: 919-212-5800.

Parents/guardians may choose to pick up students after the exam has ended if the student does not have another exam after. (Students cannot leave an exam session until it ends.) Unless this form linked above has been completed and turned in to Mr. Abbott by the morning of the exam day, students must be checked out using the standard checkout process inside the school building or picked up in carpool at the end of the day.
