Good Sunday evening, Yates Mill families. This is Dr Jenkins for our Sunday Huddle in English only.

We are still smiling from ear to ear about the amazing job our students did as they performed at the Wake County Schools Pieces of Gold production. In front of thousands, our students sang, danced and played their own instruments and a beautiful performance it was. We want to especially thank Mr. Cabezas for the musical arrangement and to first grade teacher, Ms. Carr for choreographing the dance. And to our parents, thank you for getting them back and forth to auditions and practices and most importantly, our brave and talented performers, please know how incredibly proud we are of you. You were again, simply amazing.

Our Book Parade was a success last week and we want to thank you for coming out in the chilly weather to show your support. It was the culminating activity for Read Across America week as we promote the love for books and the importance of literacy. From Pre-K to 5th grade, please keep reading at home whether you're reading in English and Spanish. Just keep reading!

Lastly, don't forget that Friday the 14th is no longer a teacher workday as we are making up time due to the weather last month. Additionally, April 7th and May 2nd are no longer Teacher Workdays.

Buenas noches de domingo, familias de Yates Mill. Les habla la Dr. Jenkins para nuestra reunión de los domingos en inglés únicamente.

Todavía estamos sonriendo de oreja a oreja por el increíble trabajo que hicieron nuestros estudiantes cuando se presentaron en la producción Pieces of Gold de Wake County Schools. Frente a miles de personas, nuestros estudiantes cantaron, bailaron y tocaron sus propios instrumentos y fue una actuación hermosa. Queremos agradecer especialmente al Sr. Cabezas por el arreglo musical y a la maestra de primer grado, la Sra. Carr por la coreografía del baile. Y a nuestros padres, gracias por llevarlos de ida y vuelta a las audiciones y prácticas y, lo más importante, a nuestros valientes y talentosos artistas, sepan lo increíblemente orgullosos que estamos de ustedes. Nuevamente, fueron simplemente increíbles.

Nuestro desfile de libros fue un éxito la semana pasada y queremos agradecerles por venir en el clima frío para mostrar su apoyo. Fue la actividad culminante de la semana de Read Across America, ya que promovemos el amor por los libros y la importancia de la alfabetización. Desde preescolar hasta quinto grado, sigan leyendo en casa, ya sea que lean en inglés o en español. ¡Sigan leyendo!

Por último, no olviden que el viernes 14 ya no es un día de trabajo para los maestros, ya que estamos recuperando tiempo debido al clima del mes pasado. Además, el 7 de abril y el 2 de mayo ya no son días de trabajo para los maestros.
