SALAMANDER NEWS 3/9/25

Dear Salem Families,

 

Spring is right around the corner and we have LOTS going on at Salem Elementary. We hope all of our families can join us TOMORROW night, March 10th, for International Night from 5:00 - 6:30. We are so excited to highlight and celebrate all of the cultures our school community includes!

 

Tomorrow also starts the second week of our PTA sponsored Read-a-Thon. We LOVE encouraging our students to read and partnering with our families to raise funds for our PTA is always fun. We hope your students and families have been able to participate!

 

If you have a child who will be joining us for kindergarten in July please make sure to go ahead and register and turn in enrollment paperwork as soon as possible! We are working hard to prepare for the start of the next school year and having accurate enrollment information is critical. Thank you for your help in this matter!

 

Spring 2025 SSA Information: Students meeting qualifying criteria in grades K-5 can accelerate one grade level in either mathematics or English Language Arts through Single Subject Acceleration (SSA). If you are interested in SSA, Please view the Parent Presentation to help decide if this option is right for your child.

 

In order to qualify to test for SSA at Salem, the student must be currently enrolled and attending at Salem Elementary, the parent must request testing during the open window through the form linked on the SSA Page on the Salem Elementary Website, and the student must make a qualifying score on the SSA assessment. Please note the specific dates for your child’s assigned track:

 

Track 1

Test Request Window Opens:

Feb. 17 – Mar. 7

Testing Occurs at School Between:

April 4 - April 17

 

Track 2

Test Request Window Opens:

March 10- March 28

Testing Occurs at School Between:

April 4 – April 17

 

Track 3

Test Request Window Opens:

March 10- March 28

Testing Occurs at School Between:

April 4 - April 17

 

Track 4

Test Request Window Opens:

March 10- March 28

April 28 - May 9

EOG TESTING UPDATES:

Parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students - We are gearing up for End of Grade (EOG) testing. Please plan ahead to ensure your children are at school for EOG testing on the following dates:

Track 1 - May 20th, 21st, and 22nd (5th only for Science)

Tracks 2, 3, 4  - 6/16 (5th only for Science) , 6/17 and 6/18
