SALAMANDER NEWS 9/22/24
Dear Salem Families,
Over the last several weeks we have had several near misses in terms of student and staff safety during morning and afternoon carpool. We ask that parents, guardians, or family members driving through the carpool line NOT engage in cell phone use of any kind until they are fully through the line. When cars are in motion we need everyone committed to the safety of all by closely paying attention. We appreciate your commitment to safety within our community!
Families and individuals who were approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year should have received a reminder email on Sept. 5 about the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year. The deadline for renewal is October 1st! As always, we LOVE having volunteers in our building. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please make sure you view THIS information about the volunteer approval process for WCPSS schools.
Be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about fall parent/teacher conferences! Teachers will reach out to families to schedule in person and/or virtual conferences, which will take place between October 7th through November 22nd. We look forward to
This month we are going to recognize Mr. Patrick, our wonderful custodian! Please take a moment to share what makes him special HERE. Each month we will be intentionally highlighting different groups of staff members here at Salem! Thank you for helping us highlight the GREAT work of all of our amazing staff members!
This year Salem Elementary is participating in the Reflections art program with the theme "Accepting Imperfections." Families can learn more about this fantastic program HERE.
As we move through this new school year please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. You can reply to this email or email me directly at soatsvall@wcpss.net. We are looking forward to a fantastic school year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Sarah Oatsvall, Principal
