4-16-23 Principal’s Weekly Message

 

I would like to thank all the students, parents, and staff that helped to celebrate the amazing team of assistant principals who work tirelessly to support our school community.  The delicious treats and hundreds of heart-felt notes that were shared made our entire administrative team feel appreciated.  I would also like to thank the hundreds of volunteers from the Cary High community who helped us host the Special Olympics for high schools last Thursday.  It was a terrific event and our Olympians had a blast.  

 

Please continue to read below about important announcements and events that are related to this week.  

 

  • Report Cards will be sent home with students through Homeroom on Monday, April 17th.  

 

  • Cary High will run a Homeroom Schedule on Monday, April 17th. 

 

  • Friday, April 21st, will be a Teacher Workday.  

 

  • Help Cary High identify areas of STRENGTH and areas for IMPROVEMENT by taking this year’s Panorama Survey:  

 

  • The Arts Department of Cary High will present its Green Tie Gala on Thursday, April 20th.  There will be two shows.  The first will run from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and tickets will be $2.  The evening show will be from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and tickets will be $5.  Don’t miss this amazing showcase.  

 

  • Senior Meeting - will be held with Mr. Bryant in the Auditorium on Tuesday, April 18th from 11:30 - 12:00.  We will review important information regarding graduation, discuss the number of tickets each student will receive, and share information about the Senior Picnic.  12th Graders should not miss this important meeting. 

 

  • COLLEGE & CAREER PLANNING NIGHT

Mark your calendars! We will be holding a College and Career Planning Night on Tuesday, April 18th from 5:30-8:00pm. This event is open to all students and families.  Over 20 colleges and universities from across the state of North Carolina as well as out of state will be attending along with military recruiters and apprenticeship program representatives. There will be a session offered in Spanish about resources and supports available. There will also be information on financial aid and a chance to hear from Cary High alumni about their transition to college. We’re excited to see you there! 

 

  • Kassel A. Smit Make A Difference Scholarship Application 

The Class of 2023 Kassel A. Smit Make A Difference Scholarship Application is now available. The application is due to Student Services or can be emailed to Mrs. Peasley (jpeasley@wcpss.net) no later than Friday, May 5th. 

 

 

  • Career and College Promise (CCP)

The North Carolina Career and College Promise program is an opportunity for high school students to take tuition-free dual enrollment classes through a community college. Most students participate in the program as juniors and seniors. The Wake Tech CCP enrollment cycle began Wednesday, March 1st. The course schedule opens April 3rd and students can begin registering for classes on April 13th. Counselors will be available during lunch on Wednesdays during April in the Student Services Career Center to assist students with the application process and to answer questions. Interested students should begin by reviewing the eligibility requirements and watching Wake Tech’s CCP information video. 

 

  • SAT and ACT Prep Help

Peer-led SAT and ACT prep sessions will be provided Tuesday April 18th and Monday, April 24th in Room 2206 during lunch. All students are welcome to attend. 

 

  • Current Juniors - Meningococcal Immunization Information

Parents and guardians of current juniors, now is the time to ensure your student is up to date with their meningococcal immunization prior to starting their senior year. Here is a flyer with important information. Immunization records can be emailed to Mrs. Dudley (data manager) at gdudley@wcpss.net .

 

  • Support CHS Students in Need

Help us restock the snack closet at Cary High & support CHS students. Next time you're at Costco, or the grocery store, grab an item off the list in the link above. Drop your contribution in the labeled bin outside the office. https://bit.ly/CHSSnacks

Me gustaría agradecer a todos los estudiantes, padres y personal que ayudaron a celebrar el increíble equipo de asistentes.directores que trabajan incansablemente para apoyar a nuestra escuelacomunidad. Eldelicioso obsequios y cientos de notas sinceras que se compartieron hicieron que todo nuestro equipo administrativo se sintiera apreciado. También me gustaría agradecer a los cientos de voluntarios de Cary Highcomunidad que nos ayudó a organizar las Olimpiadas Especiales para escuelas secundarias el jueves pasado. Fue un evento fantástico y nuestros atletas olímpicos se divirtieron mucho.

Este evento está abierto a todos los estudiantes y familias. Más de 20 colegios y universidades de todo el estado de Carolina del Norte y de otros estados asistirán junto con reclutadores militares y representantes del programa de aprendizaje. Habrá una sesión ofrecida en español sobre los recursos y apoyos disponibles. También habrá información sobre ayuda financiera y la oportunidad de escuchar a los ex alumnos de Cary High sobre su transición a la universidad. ¡Estamos emocionados de verte allí!
