3-21-22 Weekly Message


  • This is the final week of the 3rd quarter.  Students should make sure that all make-up work is completed by Friday, March 25th. 
  • Students are reminded that Cary High School offers SMART Lunch tutoring everyday during the lunch period.  We also offer after-school tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-4:45 pm in the Media Center.  
  • Congratulations to Kayla Engler on earning a Morehead-Cain Scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill, to Krish Patel for earning a Park Scholarship to NC State, and to Emerson Phillips for earning the Chancellor’s Scholarship to Appalachian State.  All three of these scholarship programs cover the full costs associated with school for these terrific Cary High seniors.  
  • This Saturday, March 26th, the Cary High PTSA is sponsoring a Grounds Day to spread some long and care on our campus.  If you are interested in helping with community event, please sign up at the following link:
  • Congratulations to Molly Roylance who qualified to compete in the National Speech and Debate tournament following her win in the Informative Speaking category last weekend.  We are proud of her and all who participated!
  • Does your student enjoy Spoken Word Poetry?  If so, tell them to sign-up to attend the performance by Spoken Word poet, Phil Kaye, on Thursday, April 7th.  Also, if they would like to take part in a small-group workshop with Mr. Kaye, they need to sign-up soon.  There are a limited number of spots available.  Students should use the QR code found on the Phil Kaye posters hanging up throughout campus.  If you have any additional questions, please email Mrs. Stevens at
  • The Cary Band would like to invite you all to the "friends and family" show in the main gym this Friday at 7:00pm. Groups performing will be the Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard, and Indoor Winds. This is a free show, and some special announcements regarding the Cary Marching Band for 2022 will happen. Come on out and support our band's indoor competition groups in their final performance of the season.
  • Attention students who park on campus. This is a reminder that you should park in your assigned parking spots and have your parking tag visibly hanging every day. Those who fail to do so may receive a parking fine or risk having their parking privileges revoked with no refund. Also, a reminder that any unpaid fines at the end of the year will prevent a student from receiving their diploma at graduation. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. McCullough.
  • The Brothers United in Leadership Development (B.U.I.L.D.) Summit, presented by the NC State University College of Education, will be held March 26th. This event is a free, virtual event designed to expose 9th -12th grade high school male students, in particular male students of color, to activities that will enhance their leadership skills, personal development, and career and college readiness. There are 100 spaces available and offered on a first-come, first served basis.  Here is more information and the registration form.
  • The Black College Institute (BCI), if offering a residential academic summer leadership program for rising seniors & a virtual experience for rising juniors. Applications are due April 1, 2022.   There is no cost to apply or attend this summer program (in-person or virtually).    Click here for more information
  • You’re invited to Wake Tech’s “on campus” Open House on Saturday, April 9.  Events will take place on two Wake Tech campuses:  The Scott Northern Wake Campus and RTP Campus.  Click here to register.  And be sure to ask about the Free Tuition offer for 2022 high school graduates and other financial resources that can help you pay for college.
  • William Peace University is pleased to announce their fifth annual Academic Summer Camps.  This year they are offering two exciting camps. 

   *  Writing Music for the Screen   and  * Research in Stream Ecology

  • The Biogen Community Lab and Lemelson-MIT Program invite you to participate in: FREE virtual Summer 2022 Lab sessions.  This two-week long virtual program will provide students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in STEM, while getting a real inside view of what it is like to work for a biotech company. Students will use virtual labs, online learning and conferencing software, and real-time conversations with employees of both Biogen and MIT to learn all about biotechnology and invention with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease

    • Attention 9th graders!  Are you interested in design, engineering, computers, advanced manufacturing, or technology?  Would you like a learning environment that is collaborative and fun?     • Attention Seniors! It's past time to order your cap and gown! Order online at the link listed below, which is also posted in the CHS Class of 2022 Google Classroom.  Click here to order.
    • Juniors, who are interested in studying textiles at the NC State - Wilson College of Textiles, the online application is now available to apply for the opportunity to participate in the Summer Textile Exploration Program and meet faculty, staff and current students, as well as learn more about what this program has to offer.  Click here for more information.
    • The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship offers 100% fully-paid tuition scholarships to qualified applicants.  Earn your degree and lead the Marines upon graduation. See the attached flyer for general eligibility requirements and how to apply.
  • IDEA Club is hosting a fundraiser for Sunflower of Peace, a non-profit organization providing medical and humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. Seek out IDEA Club members to purchase blue & yellow ribbons to help them reach their $1500 goal before Spring Break.
