7/8 Principal's Message

Alston Ridge Families:

The time has come—Year 14 is beginning at Alston Ridge Elementary and we are so excited to welcome all of our students back to ARES. For families assigned to Tracks 1, 2, and 3, the first day of school is Tuesday, July 11, and for our Track 4 families, the first day of school is Monday, July 31 (School calendars are available on the WCPSS Calendars page, including calendars for each track).

We can’t wait to begin our work together as a community.

Meet the Teacher

“Meet the Teacher” is an opportunity for families and students to “meet” their teacher in their new classroom. The optional event provides families a chance to help students find their way and to ask questions that will help make for a great start to the school year.

Class Lists

Class lists will be posted on each grade-level’s website and on the Alston Ridge ES Homepage by 9 a.m. on Monday, July 10 (for Track 4, class lists will be posted the morning of Friday, July 28). Class lists will also be posted in the school hallways and windows of the school on Monday morning. Class lists will match each child to their teacher for the new school year!

Transportation Notifications

Bus Transportation information for all eligible riders was sent by the WCPSS Transportation department to year-round families in June. Bus Transportation information is also available through students’ Home Base/PowerSchool account. The WCPSS Transportation website has directions for how to check bus assignments and the process to request a bus stop. Bus routes with stops for Alston Ridge are on the school’s website.

Walk Zone

Students who live in the school’s established Walk Zone are not eligible for Bus Transportation and will need to fill out a Walker Permission Form at the school for the new year. Walker Permission forms will be available at Meet the Teacher, from the front office during school hours, and at the rear walker door on the first days of school.

Carpool Tags

Carpool tags stay the same for all returning families. New families can obtain a carpool tag at Meet the Teacher, on Kindergarten Staggered Entry dates, and by request through the front office after the start to the school year.
