9/20 Principal's Message
Happy Tuesday Alston Ridge Families!
Exciting things are always happening at school. We hope you’ll keep up with celebrations and events through our school’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/alstonridgees and follow along with teacher newsletters and classroom communication to find out news that is most relevant to your child’s class and grade.
Apex Leadership Fun Run
Yesterday, Track 3 and Track 4 classes launched our annual Fun Run program. The Fun Run helps to accomplish important projects at Alston Ridge that improve the school environment and provide resources for teachers to enrich the student learning experience. This year’s focus is on expanding outdoor learning spaces and updating technology infrastructure in classrooms throughout the building. Our students are excited to help our school and build towards an exciting community celebration with the Apex Leadership Fun Run event on Wednesday, 9/28 for Tracks 3 & 4. We look forward to launching our program with Track 1 & Track 2 in a few weeks (10/3) with the second Fun Run event scheduled for Thursday, 10/13. Thank you in advance for supporting our students’ enthusiasm and these important school priorities.
Report Cards
September concludes the first quarter to the school year for all tracks. Wake County sends report cards in October (Tracks 1 – 3: 10/11, Track 4: 10/31). At the end of the quarter teachers will share information with their classes about scheduling parent-teacher conference. All families are encouraged to meet with their child’s teacher after the first and third quarters to hear how they can continue to encourage and empower them at school and home.
Volunteer Registration
As we plan for this year’s field trips and student programs, families who are interested to chaperon trips and volunteer in their child’s classroom are encouraged to register as a volunteer. Volunteer Registration can be completed during school hours at any WCPSS location. At Alston Ridge our front office staff can assist with this 5 – 10-minute process on-site. Background checks and clearance takes 3 – 4 weeks. Please register early to ensure clearance is complete before school programs begin.
Thank you for your support for our school and teachers—we appreciate the confidence of our community as we continue to work to develop an exceptional learning experience for every child at Alston Ridge.
Sincerely,
Niko
