6/24 Principal's Message

Alston Ridge Families:

This week and next week will bring us all tremendous pride as we culminate the experiences we’ve shared as a school community during this year, and prepare for the time when we will reunite all of our students at Alston Ridge Elementary School with a full return to in-person learning. As we celebrate our 5th graders before they transition to middle school and our kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students who are looking ahead to new challenges in the new year, we are marking the passage of significant periods in the lives of our students and our families. Thank you for the support to bring us so far, and for the chance to celebrate together.

For those families who will be returning to Alston Ridge Elementary in July for the 2022-2023 school year, we will share more frequent messages as a primer on the year ahead. Topics that will be covered in digests will include:

  • School Hours, Calendars, and Early Release
  • Transportation and Before/After School Care
  • School Attendance Policies and Procedures
  • Meals, Snacks, and Health and Safety Protocols
  • Home-School Communication
  • Volunteering in Schools and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

For those families who have moved or will transition to a new school home for the 2022-2023 school year, we wish your family the very best as you prepare to begin a new chapter in learning.

Reminder: Last Day of School for Students is Monday, 6/27

All students on Tracks 2, 3, and 4 will have their last day of school on Monday, June 27. This district change makes an exception for students in Grades 3-5 students who do not pass the End-of-Grade test who may choose to participate in remediation and readministration on June 28th and June 29th. More information will come directly from each child’s teacher if they are non-proficient on the EOG test.

Meet the Teacher, 2022-2023

For the first time in 2 years, Meet the Teacher will occur in-person at Alston Ridge ES on the day immediately before the first day of school for each track; and, for the first time in 5 years, families and students will “meet” their teacher in their classrooms to allow for all families to come back into school and help students to find their way to a new classroom home.

Thank you for Volunteers!

A special thank you to the many parents who have recently volunteered to help in the school with Testing and PTA programs. We are excited to welcome families back as volunteers in the school. If you have not registered as a volunteer in Wake County during this year, you are encouraged to stop by the school and register. Front office personnel will be able to assist you to complete the process—bring your driver’s license.
