4/10 Principal's Message
Alston Ridge Families:
Springtime has arrived and we are looking forward to even more chances this last quarter to learn, grow, and celebrate what we have accomplished together as a school community. Thank you for your continued support to end this year in good health. We are excited to continue reopening our school and district to experiences that benefit all of our students and families—we look forward to seeing you back at school soon! As we prepare for meaningful learning in the upcoming months, and end-of-year events, the following are a few announcements, requests, and reminders:
PTA Playground Opening Playdate
Today our school will open our new front-field playground to students for the first time! Supported and made possible by our parents, this playstructure will continue to expand the ways that our children can be outside, active and social—they are excited to begin to put it into use!
Plans to Return to Alston Ridge for 2022-2023
Please help our school plan for hiring outstanding teachers and enrolling new families by sharing your plans for the upcoming school year. All families are requested to complete the Family Intent Form 2022-2023 (Direct Link: https://forms.gle/N3WwmRWbmDbbudLW7). Please call the school’s main office with any questions about planning for the upcoming year for your family—919-544-2474 x20146.
Panorama Family Survey
Wake County Schools and our school are interested to hear more about your family’s experience at Alston Ridge via the Panorama Family Engagement Survey: surveys.panoramaed.com/wakecounty/family. We hope that you will take a few minutes to share with us about your experience so that we can continue to improve how we support all parents as partners.
School Calendar Change
Following Board of Education discussion and the recommendation of the school district’s leadership, the school year will end two days sooner for all year-round calendar schools. The last day of regular instruction for students will be June 2 for Track 1 and June 27 for Tracks 2, 3, and 4. Additional information is detailed below from the school district:
Kindergarten Enrollment
Kindergarten enrollment continues and our available enrollment is limited. If you know of a family with a rising kindergarten student (including kindergarten siblings of current students), please encourage them to complete the registration process immediately. All families must follow the New Student Enrollment process through the WCPSS Office of Student Assignment After April 1, enrollment is no longer guaranteed for siblings of current students nor families who have lived in our base attendance area prior to the cap date.
School Cap
At Alston Ridge we are committed to providing an excellent education for our community’s children. We are able to continue registering students at all grades for the upcoming school year and look forward to welcoming new Alligators to Alston Ridge this summer. If you know of a family who is seeking enrollment or moving to the community, please have them contact our school’s office at 919-544-2474 to learn more about capping and registration.
Please let us know if we can be of any assistance in the days and weeks ahead. We are grateful for our community’s support for the health and safety of our school, the dedication to our students’ learning, and for the support for our faculty and administration. If you have a question or need anything, call 919-544-2474, or e-mail your child’s teacher or one of the members of our administration: Assistant Principals, Mrs. Melissa Oliver (moliver2@wcpss.net) and Mrs. Purvi Shah (pshah@wcpss.net) or your school’s principal, me, Mr. Niko Schutte (nschutte@wcpss.net).
Sincerely,
Niko
