8/13 Principal Message

Alston Ridge Alligators:

The year is in full swing. We have loved the chance to witness all that your students are already learning and accomplishing in their classroom communities. Every day, we are amazed by the questions that they are asking, the ideas that they are sharing by writing and speaking, and the kindness that they show towards one another. The following are a few notes on upcoming events to help you stay abreast of the goings-on at Alston Ridge.

Open House and Curriculum Night Events
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, 9/5 at 6 pm and Thursday, 9/26 at 6 pm to attend school-wide Curriculum Nights with additional Open House sessions for families on two of our tracks each evening. These will be newly combined times for our whole school community to gather together. Parents will learn from grade-level teachers about the learning targets for the year and ways to help at home. Students are also invited to attend—we will show the movie Toy Story in grade level groups as entertainment.

PTA 2019-2020 Kickoff Meeting
Plan to attend the 2019-2020 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Kickoff Meeting at 6:15 pm on August 26th. From PTA President Erica Watson: “Come meet other parents, hear a sneak peak of what is planned for the year, how PTA money will be raised/spent, hear from ARES Principal, Niko Schutte, and ask any questions you may have. All parents and faculty are welcomed!” Already this year the PTA has been helping teachers with more than $1,000 in instructional supply reimbursements to enrich their classrooms and has kept our student Safety Patrol sheltered from the weather with much-needed raingear. This partnership improves our learning community everyday—thank you parents!

Community Based After School Enrichment Programs
Community Based Enrichment Programs are beginning. All Enrichment Programs are on-site at Alston Ridge and provide unique after school opportunities for our students to grow their gifts and talents. Currently the KidzArt Program has begun and the TGA Golf and Tennis Program is registering for August and fall programs and the Alston Ridge Band fall program has begun. Visit the program websites to learn more about how they work with our students.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance. Our faculty contact is available through our Faculty Directory and you can reach our Main Office support staff from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with questions.

Thank you for all your support for our faculty, students, and school.

Go Alligators!
