5/5 Principal Message
Alston Ridge Alligators:
Thank you for all your understanding this past Wednesday as the school district closed schools for students. We appreciate the support of our families: support for our students, and support for our faculty members who serve this community.
The following are a few notes and reminders that are relevant to the coming weeks:
Field Day—Repeat Call for Volunteers
Especially if you are a parent of our students in Grades 3-5, please consider volunteering to ensure a safe and fulfilling day of play for our students—we cannot run these joyful events successfully without our families’ gift of time. Field day provides opportunities for fun, community building, and practice with a range of motor skills that have been developed through another year of Physical Education at Alston Ridge. Field day is a success when parents support their student and our Specialists by volunteering to help with an activity, set-up, and clean-up. Please consider the chance to Sign Up to Volunteer.
Tracks 1 & 2: Tue. May 7 (Rain date Thur. May 9)
Tracks 3 & 4: Thur. May 16 (Rain date Fri. May 17)
We hope to see you out on the field—it is always a terrific day for our students and teachers
School Lost & Found
Thank you to our School Counselors for their help to video our Lost & Found items for the convenience of our parents who may be curious it their student has forgotten an item at school this winter and early-spring. Video is available through the School Counseling Twitter account at https://twitter.com/ARECounselors. At the end of the day on Friday, May 10, all remaining items will be washed and donated to the Goodwill Community Foundation in Morrisville.
Driveway Changes
As construction proceeds to prepare for the opening of Alston Ridge Middle School, we will continue to see some impact to our driveway access. Soon, our humble driveway will include a traffic light and crosswalks on Green Level Church Road and it will grow to be a 3-lane road named “Fussell Avenue” serving the middle school, our school, and adjoining home construction. The next phase of construction, beginning on or after Monday 5/20, will require a temporarily relocated driveway that leads directly into our school’s parking lot. This shortened drive will require us to begin “double-stacking” carpool to accommodate the traffic. Our staff will assist drivers in knowing how to handle this new traffic pattern during arrival and dismissal. This temporary drive will enable us all to practice utilizing a double-stacked carline process for the upcoming school year to ensure that we do not interfere with through-traffic on Fussell Avenue leading to Alston Ridge Middle School.
Thank you for all your support for our faculty, students, and school.
Go Alligators!
