4/8 Principal's Message

Alston Ridge Parent-Alligators,

Good Morning! TS Eliot’s April may be the “cruelest month,” but it’s been a great start to our next to next to last month at Alston Ridge.

A few reminders and announcements:

Science Olympiad

Congratulations to the Alston Ridge Elementary School Science Olympiad students who recently placed 2nd at the NC Science Olympiad Middle Creek Tournament. 25 teams from independent schools, charter schools, home school networks, and area public schools around the Triangle participated in the all-day tournament on May 30th. We are proud of all of our students who practiced and prepared for outstanding individual and team performances, and we are grateful to the outstanding faculty members and families who enabled their competitive excellence.

PTA Interest Meeting

The faculty and students at Alston Ridge Elementary School rely on the parents and community members who support them through the PTA. These caring and dedicated families of students at Alston Ridge share their time and talent through the PTA Board and in support of specific initiatives and events. Time commitments vary, but every gift is invaluable to the mission of the school. Please consider helping. You are needed!

Fill out the Interest Form (https://bit.ly/2WR7Spq) and review 2019-2020 Available Positions (https://bit.ly/2UkQnRq), or e-mail Erica Watson, interim president, president.arpta@gmail.com, or Susan Clarke, VP for Communications at communications.arpta@gmail.com with questions. Thank you in advance for your support of our school’s PTA, faculty, and students.

The nomination window for Single-Subject Acceleration is coming soon for families who would like their child to be evaluated for placement for the 2019-2020 school year. Single-Subject Acceleration (SSA) is a practice through which students meeting qualifying criteria in grades K‐7 can take advanced academic content in mathematics or English/Language Arts. Alston Ridge Band Show & Tell

All students in rising Grades 3, 4, and 5, who are interested in learning more about the Alston Ridge Band can come to an Instrument Show and Tell on May 2nd, 7th, 16th, and 21st from 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm.
