Wake Forest iSTEM Magnet Elementary School Named Merit School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America
Wake Forest iSTEM Magnet Elementary School has been named a National Merit School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.
Wake Forest iSTEM Magnet Elementary School embraces diversity and celebrates cultural differences as we work to demonstrate empathy as global citizens. Our students understand and use the design thinking process to solve complex problems, not only in the Innovation labs, but in all subjects and areas-from the playground to math class. Connecting students with real-world STEM career experiences allows students to see the design thinking process in action.
Presentation of Distinction Award:
Mrs. Chell Smith will be recognized and receive a National Merit School of Distinction Award on behalf of the school during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s National Conference April 7-10, 2025, in Nashville.
To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.
