Our Core Practices
Teachers will greet students at the door with a welcome each day for each class.
Every classroom will have an agenda posted on the board. Everyone who walks in the classroom will be able to tell what the plan is for the day and what deadlines are approaching.
All teachers have an updated website, that all stakeholders can visit to stay informed. This is a way to “visit” the classroom virtually.
Every teacher, with each class, will establish & implement a social contract, rules/expectations and processes & procedures.
Students learn best in an optimal learning environment. We believe that materials should be in a place and in a way that is readily accessible to students.
The primary focus of this shift in learning is shifting away from a centrally managed learning to a more dynamic delivery and management. Dynamic learning is centered around the learner and curriculum with a discovery perspective.
Students work on a project over an extended period of time – from a week up to a semester – that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by developing a public product or presentation for a real audience.
Every two week conferences occur between our teachers and their students. This serves as a tool for progress monitoring, a way to update students on their current progress and develop Classroom Intervention plans.
Teachers maintain and update student accounts and information. Teachers will update grades in powerschool atleast once every two weeks. Addtionally, teachers update attendance daily for each class.
Teacher make contact with parents frequently. Teachers use a two way communication tool in order to communicate with parents information about classroom activities and updates. Each of our students teachers will call at the beginning of the semester to introduce themselves. Our school also maintains Twitter and Remind accounts for daily announcements. Our administration also makes a weekly phone call to all families in order to provide glance of the week ahead.
