Ms. Deirdre Mostica
I grew up in the suburbs north of NYC and earned my B.A. in Fine Art from the State University of New York College at Cortland. Shortly after graduation, I moved to Colorado where I procured my education licensure (Art K-12) through Metropolitan State University.
My teaching career started at Gateway High School in Aurora, CO. I relocated to Colorado Springs to pursue a teaching opportunity at Rampart High School, where I remained for the next 22 years. In that time, I taught Visual Arts for ten years, was the Director for the International Baccalaureate Middle and Diploma Years Programmes at RHS for two years and subsequently served as an Assistant principal for Curriculum and Instruction for ten years after earning my Master’s in Administration and Supervision.
Areas of passion for me in education include:
-The thoughtful development and artful delivery of rigorous and engaging curriculum for all students in the context of state standards
-Problem and/or project-based teaching and learning
-Improvement of instruction through efficient PLC work as it pertains to dynamic curriculum delivered through meaningful and creative inquiry-based methodologies
-Adolescent mental-health awareness: preemptive social/emotional teaching/learning and prompt response
-Distributive leadership and its’ positive impacts on school culture
-Differentiation of instruction and authentic assessment strategies
-Mindfulness and guided self-reflection as a teaching and learning strategy
I am honored to serve the South Garner High School community and am proud to have become a Titan!
