Mr. David Turley
Mr. Turley is excited and honored to serve as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal for another great year at Apex Friendship Middle School! Mr. Turley was one of the assistant principals who helped open AFMS in 2018 and is looking forward to working with another great group of students this school year.
Prior to working at AFMS, Mr. Turley taught high school English. After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2011, Mr. Turley spent his first four years of his career working at Columbus Career and College Academy in Whiteville, NC where he taught English and eventually served as the Program Director for the Early College campus, which gave him experience in an administrative position. He enjoyed the administrative role that about a year after leaving Columbus County, Mr. Turley started working to get his Masters Degree and Administrative License through Gardner-Webb University. Mr. Turley left Columbus Career and College Academy when he moved to Wake County, where he spent the next three years working at Heritage High School in Wake Forest. While at Heritage High, Mr. Turley taught 9th Grade English, worked as an Administrative Intern, and served as the Testing Coordinator.
When Mr. Turley isn't working, he enjoys his free time by going to live sporting events (especially App State football, Durham Bulls, and Carolina Hurricane games) as well as the occasional festival or concert. He plays the occasional round of disc golf when he gets the chance as well. Mr. Turley also enjoys lounging around the house and watching TV with his wife.
Mr. Turley is looking forward to another great year and is excited to work with students, teachers, and parents to ensure students have a great final year of middle school! His door is always open, so students are always welcome to come by his office!
