Mr. David Turley

David Turley is excited to be a part of the Charger family for another year at Apex Friendship Middle School as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal! Mr. Turley helped open AFMS in 2018 and is looking forward to working with another great group of students this school year.

The 2020-2021 school year will be his tenth year in education. After graduating from Appalachian State University, Mr. Turley spent his first four years teaching English and eventually serving as the Program Director at Columbus Career and College Academy in Whiteville, NC. The Program Director position gave him experience in an administrative role and was the reason why, after moving to Wake County, he decided to get his Masters Degree and Administrative License through Gardner-Webb University while he taught 9th Grade English, worked as an Administrative Intern, and served as the Testing Coordinator at Heritage High School.

When the world isn’t in the middle of a pandemic, Mr. Turley enjoys his free time by going to concerts, attending various festivals in the Raleigh and Apex area, and going to pretty much any live sporting event (particularly App State football games and Durham Bulls games). He also enjoys lounging around the house and watching TV, which has been a frequent past time during quarantine. He also spent quite a bit of time this summer focused on his wedding after COVID forced him and his wife, Heather, to cancel their original plans and opt for a small, backyard wedding instead.

Mr. Turley knows that the 2020-2021 school year will be a memorable one and is happy to work with students, teachers, and parents to make it an amazing year, no matter what form it may take! His door is always open, so if you are on campus, feel free to swing by his office anytime!
