We serve our students in an all male environment on our Thompson campus during grades 6-10 and then reintegrate them into a co-ed environment on our Saint Augustine's University Campus during grades 11-13. We believe that the single gender atmosphere allows us to cater to the unique learning needs of young men and to engage them at a high level.
By taking advantage of our Early College program, students not only earn their high school diploma, but if they stay with us for the extra 13th year (super senior year!) they can leave WYMLA with 2 years of college credits under their belt. That is two years of college credit at no cost to the student. That is a two year savings of $7,934.50 over the average in state college tuition at a public university, a two year savings of $45,916 over the average out of state college tuition, and a two year savings of $5,280 over Wake Tech Community College tuition. These savings only factor in tuition amounts and do not include the other costs of college like room and board, books and supplies, personal expenses, and transportation. For more information see our Early College page.
As a part of our school culture we seek to instill the five practices of exemplary leadership, as outlined by James Kouzes and Barry Posner in their book "The Leadership Challenge". These practices are:
- Modeling the Way
- Inspiring a Shared Vision
- Challenging the Process
- Enabling Others to Act
- Encouraging the Heart
