Principal’s Otter Splash 12/11/2020

Hello, Oak Grove family!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  If you registered for Spring Virtual Academy (whether a new registration or a full year registration), you should have received a notification from me on Friday. If you have questions about your registration, please contact Ms. Dahlhoff (adahlhoff@wcpss.net). She will be happy to help you out.

 

If any changes to class assignments need to be made, we will communicate those changes in January. We are still looking carefully at numbers and assessing the situation. As always, we will try to maintain consistency to the extent possible. However, some changes may need to be made at the semester.

 

On Monday, December 14, Cohort 1/A 4^th and 5^th graders be back at school in their rotation.

 

The WCPSS School Board has called a special meeting on Monday, December 14. They also have a regular meeting on Tuesday, December 15. We know that any decisions made at those meetings will be communicated from WCPSS.

 

We will have an asynchronous day on December 16.

 

December 21 and 22 are Remote Learning Days.  There will not be any students on campus those two days. You should expect live instruction from your child’s teacher. On December 23, we will begin Winter Break and Track Out. We will return to school on Monday, January 25, 2021.

In-Person Families ACTION REQUESTED for Carpoolers for a smooth arrival & dismissal

• Adults stay in car at all times with car running
• Please remember to “snake” through the parking lot to keep cars off Penny Road. If the carpool drive is full, please turn right to go around through the parking lot.
• Please have your carpool number displayed both during arrival and dismissal
• If it’s a cold morning, please turn down the heat and remove hats and hoods.  Too much warmth in your car could lead to an inaccurate temperature check at screening.
• Students should be ready to get out of the car quickly after health screening questions have been answered
• Students should be seated in the back passenger seat (right side of the car) upon arrival; and will be placed in the back passenger seat at dismissal
• Students should have backpack/personal items ready
• Say goodbye or hello quickly

Asynchronous Learning Days

The School Board also approved the inclusion of an additional Remote Learning/Asynchronous day for each week when there is not already an interruption to the week. This applies to both Plan B and Virtual Academy students.

Upcoming Asynchronous Days are: December 16.  We will also have Remote Learning Days with Live Instruction on December 21-22. Winter Break begins on December 23.
