Principal Message - Jan 5

Posted by Wade Martin on 1/5/2024

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm report.  Let me begin by wishing all of our families a Happy New Year.  We have some really important items to share with you as we close out this semester.

  • Our Semester exam schedule is posted on our website.  Please remember we do not allow student checkouts during the required testing window each day so please plan appointments accordingly.

  • For our students with excessive absences, we have two Saturdays left to buy back your needed time.  Students need to report to the cafeteria from 9:00 - 12:00 for Saturday Academy if they are needing this opportunity.  Failure to meet our attendance guidelines will cause students to lose class credit.

  • Student services will be accepting requests for Schedule Corrections for the second semester from January 5 until January 12.   The corrections will be made for missing a class with a "hole" in your schedule, to increase rigor (if there is space available) or if a student has not met the prerequisites for the class in which they are currently scheduled.  Elective changes will not be approved.  Students can enter requests on the link found on the website and they must use his/her Wakeid to access the document.

Any Junior or Senior participating in CCP who is needing early release, please submit your early release forms with your CCP courses to Student Services as soon as possible.  Release periods are also dependent on space availability.

  • We invite all junior parents to come 6:00 - 6:30 on February 7th prior to our Meet the Teacher Open House for a presentation from our Student Services Staff which includes planning for senior year and beyond!  Topics will cover career and college options as well as what juniors need to be doing now to prepare.  Put this date on your calendars now.

  • The Intervention Team will provide after-school sessions next Tuesday, January 9, to Friday, January 12, for students with ARP’s  to complete missing assignments or to make up for excessive absences. The sessions will be held in room 3302 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. Students must arrive before 2:35 pm. Transportation will not be provided; please be here no later than 5 pm to pick up your student if they plan to attend. For questions, contact Dr. Cagle, Ms. Raiford, or Mr. Smith.

Thanks and have a great weekend.  Go Storm!
