Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • Monday, April 29th is a teacher work day.  No school for students on Monday.

    • I have one final reminder for our 9th and 10th grade families who are interested in applying for the 3-Year Graduation plan for their students.  The applications have to be submitted to student services on or before next Friday, May 3rd.

    • Senior Parents - as we get closer to the end of this school year, it is really important if you have not already done so, to please review our Senior Planning Guide that has critical information for our seniors as they close out their senior year.  The senior planning guide was shared with our seniors and families at the beginning of the school year.

    • For any student who may be needing extra assistance, our Intervention Team is offering after school tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays as we close out the school year.  Transportation is not provided so students will need to arrange their own transportation home after the sessions.

    • Lastly, we are offering Saturday Academies during the first three Saturdays in May for students who need to earn back time due to excessive unexcused absences.  These sessions will be in our cafeteria from 9:00 to 12:00 on those days.

Make it a great weekend and Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report!

    • Tomorrow night is the WSHS prom from 8:00 - 11:00 at Marble Museum in Raleigh.  If your student is going, please remind them they must arrive before 9:00 in order to get in.  We are looking forward to a great event for our students.

    • Course Verification sheets were  given to students in homeroom today with their report cards.  This is not a schedule; it is a list of what primaries and alternate courses your students have registered for.  Please check this form and review it carefully.  Any final changes need to be made by April 26th.  The directions on how to make changes are also printed on the form.  Now is the time for you to review the selected courses and alternates, as schedule changes are not permitted once the master schedule has been created.  If you have any questions, please see your student's counselor.

    • Student Services is hosting a College Fair for students on April 23rd in the Auxiliary Gym during BOLT lunch.  We encourage all students, especially juniors, to attend as this is a wonderful opportunity to speak with several college admissions representatives about future opportunities.

    • We have less than 50 yearbooks remaining for purchase. If your student has not bought a yearbook yet and would like to, head to the Yearbook page under "Activities" on the school website. Contact Ms. Caron at mcaron@wcpss.net with any questions.

    • I would also like to provide a reminder to all 9th and 10th grade families interested in the 3-Year Graduation Plan that the applications must be submitted to Student Service before May 3rd.

Thanks as always for your support of our school.  Make it a great weekend!

Y Vamos tormenta!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • Our ACT testing went well for our Juniors this past week. Juniors who were absent this week will complete their testing next week.

    • We are in the final quarter of the school year.  School attendance is very important during this last quarter, especially for our Seniors.  Please start encouraging your students to finish the year strong when it comes to school attendance and work completion.  We want all of our students to find academic success as we close out the year.

    • We hosted an informational meeting this past week for current 9th and 10th grade families regarding the 3-year Graduate options now available.  We have posted the presentation on our school website for families who were unable to attend.  Parents or students can contact Amy Gregorio, our Dean of Students with any questions.  The applications to apply for the program are available in the student services office and are due by Friday, May 3rd.

    • Any senior who has missed our two lunchtime pick-up dates and has not received their Graduation Cap and Gown can stop by the main office before school or after school to pick them up.

Thanks and make it a great weekend!  Go Storm

    Principal Message - April 5

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • This is the final parent reminder to pass on to your Junior or Senior regarding Prom Ticket purchases.  We added two dates, today and Monday with the final day to get tickets remaining, Tuesday, April 9th.

    • For our Seniors who were absent earlier this week and were unable to pick up their Graduation Cap and Gowns, we will be distributing them again on Thursday, April 11th during lunch in the main office hallway.

    • Next Tuesday is the end of the 3rd quarter, so that means Wednesday, April 10th is a teacher workday.  No school on Wednesday.  That also means there are only about 40 days of class left in the school year.  Wow, did that go fast!

    • This is also a reminder to our Junior parents that all Juniors will be taking the ACT on Thursday, April 11th here at school.  This is a required test for all of our Juniors.  Make-up testing will be the next week for any students absent from school on April 11th.

    • Lastly, I would like to provide one last reminder to our current 9th and 10th grade families about the 3-Year Graduation Information meeting that will be held in our auditorium at 6:30 next Wednesday, April 10th.  Information about the meeting is also posted on our website under Storm News.

Thanks and make it a great weekend!  Go Storm

Hello this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

I will begin with a few updates our PTSA has asked me to share:

    • The PTSA is looking for families to participate in the International Festival Food Court on 4/4.  Take us on a tour with sample sized tastes from your culture or a culture you love.  Contact the PTSA to get more information or to sign up to provide food.

    • The PTSA is hosting a Distracted Driving Event on 4/19 for all Juniors and Seniors during Bolt Lunch.  Please encourage your students to attend.  The FVPD is bringing materials and demonstration vehicles, impaired vision goggles and the Seat Belt Convincer.  Students will receive more information in school including a waiver form for the Seat Belt Convincer if they want to try it.

    • Do you own a business or work in a Skilled Trades field?  Student Services is hosting a Trades Fair for our Juniors and Seniors on 4/24 and we are looking for companies who would like to set up a table to talk with our kids about their industry and potentially offer job shadowing, internship or employment opportunities.  Contact Mrs. Gates or the PTSA for more information or to sign up!

    • The PTSA  still has senior signs available - order online to celebrate your graduate.

    • The next round of sales to etch your students name in WSHS history is open.  Place your order to add their name to the Storm Legacy Wall!

I have a message from our student services department:

Parents of Seniors! We have begun calculating our Class of 2024 scholarship total and we need your help.  If your senior has received ANY scholarship offer, please bring a copy of the offer to Student Services as soon as possible so that we can add it to our Senior Class total.  This is for ALL scholarships regardless of if your senior has accepted it or not.  Let's start this tradition off with a scholarship total so big that it will be difficult for the future senior classes to match!  Our school total also gets reported to Wake County, so let's show them that the Class of 2024 is coming in like a STORM!

Lastly, have a great week off for Spring Break!  If you are heading out of town for the break, we wish you safe travels.  See you back on April 1st, and that’s no April fools' joke. Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • In case you had not heard, Prom Applications are now available on our school website homepage.  Tickets can only be purchased by Juniors and Seniors.  9th and 10th grade students can not purchase tickets unless they are the guest of an 11th or 12th grader.  TIckets will be sold during BOLT lunch on March 19, 20, 21 and April 3, 4 & 9th.  Tickets will not be sold online this year.  Students must have their application and guest forms completed and ready to turn in at the time of ticket purchasing.  There will be no additional sales of prom tickets after April 9th.

    • It’s only one week until Spring Break.  Remember, no school from March 25 - 29th.

    • Just a quick reminder to share with your family and friends who attend athletic and arts events that only clear bags are permitted for spectators.  We are running into grandmas who are upset about having to put their bags back in their cars because they did not know about the new rules.  Thank you all for your help with the implementation of this new rule.

Make it a great weekend and Go Storm!
