Hello Willow Spring High School families,
This is Wade Martin, the principal of Willow Spring HS. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!
We are hard at work getting everything ready for our grand opening about one month from now. There are some important dates for students and parents that I want to be sure you have on your calendars as we get closer to our opening.
July 28 - “Charting the Storm” - Student Leadership Meeting - all student leaders interested in meeting with our school administrative team to provide us with your input for the upcoming school year are invited to join us at 6:30. We are looking for our Storm student leaders who want to start leaving their legacy at Willow Spring High School. This will be a student only event.
August 2 - Fall sports tryouts for Football, Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Tennis and Golf and Cross County begin.
August 9 - Band camp starts for all students interested in being a part of our marching band and color guard programs.
August 16 will be our 9th and 10th grade Student Orientation. The event will be during the day. The detailed agenda will be posted to our website shortly but be sure to save the date on your calendars. This event will replace the previously scheduled walk your schedule event noted on August 19th. Students will be able to walk their schedules during the event on August 16th. We will also have programs and information for all parents during this event.
September 8th will be our Fall Semester “Meet the Teacher” Open House for parents. The event will start at 7:00, however, our PTSA will host an open meeting that evening starting at 6:00. All families are encouraged to attend.
The STORM is coming….. We can not wait to begin meeting our students, parents and community members that will all partner to make this inaugural year for Willow Spring High School one for the history books.
Please continue to check our website and get connected with our social media on Twitter and Facebook as we are continually updating these as we get closer to our opening.
Thanks and have a great day. Go STORM!

May 5th Principal's MessagePosted by Wade Martin on 5/5/2021
May 5, 2021
Greetings Willow Spring High School Community,
My name is Wade Martin and I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Willow Spring High School.
High school is a memorable time in a student’s life, and it is an honor to embark on this new journey with you to open the new Willow Spring High School. I look forward to making this year a story for the history books. Over the next several months, I am eager to meet and partner with you and the school community.
First, a little about me. My entire educational career of 25 years has been here in Wake County. For more than 17 years, I have served as a school administrator for WCPSS. I worked as an assistant principal for Needham Broughton High School and as principal at Martin GT Magnet Middle School and Middle Creek High School. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Superintendent for School Choice, Planning and Assignment for WCPSS.
As we begin to frame the vision for Willow Spring High School, I am committed to building an inviting and inclusive environment for all learners. Recognizing the importance of positive relationships, I will promote a school culture that values relationships as much as the academic content that we will impart to students.
I aspire to create a school community that is student-centered and filled with relevant, engaging, and empowering learning experiences for our diverse student population – both inside and outside the classroom. WSHS envisions a learning community that makes a large comprehensive high school feel small – a place where the work is guided by an understanding that each student’s educational journey is unique and will be personalized.
Willow Spring students will benefit from a challenging and rigorous academic environment. We are proud to open our school with a wide variety of courses to meet the unique needs and interests of all students. Students will have many enrichment opportunities in the first year. Extracurricular activities are so critical to a positive student culture.
The best part of opening a new high school is the unique opportunity it provides students for leadership starting in their freshman and sophomore years. Your child’s leadership will be critical in establishing our school culture and leaving a legacy for years to come. To make sure that they have every opportunity to shape our school’s legacy, I will be providing information via Twitter (@WillowSpringHS) and our website: www.wcpss.net/willowspringhs. Please check regularly for upcoming events and student opportunities.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
With warmest of regards,
