Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • Senior Parents- If you have a student planning to attend college in the Fall of 2024, you will need to submit the 2024-25 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This is the first year for the new simplified FAFSA which is supposed to become available on December 31, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Tori Sharpe, WSHS Financial Aid Advisor at vsharpe@wcpss.net for help.

    • We continue to get requests for excused absences for family trips and other vacations students are attending.  I would like to direct parents to review the attendance information that is linked on our website under the families tab to get more detailed information about what qualifies as an excused absence.

    • If you haven’t filled out the parent survey that has recently been sent to all parents that is a required part of our school accreditation process this school year, now is the time.  We greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey.

Thank you as always for your support of our school.  Go Storm!

  • Rumor of Threat

Posted by Wade Martin on 11/6/2023

    Subject: Important update

    Willow Spring High School families,

First, know that all students are safe.

I wanted to let you know about a false rumor that there is a threat to our school.

This rumor has no basis in fact. During the weekend, a rumor began circulating among our school community that a threat was made to our school. This information was reported to administration, WCPSS Security and the Fuquay-Varina Police Department. Law enforcement investigated the claim and have determined that no threats of any kind have been made.

Rumors of this kind make students, staff and families feel unsafe. Please remind your child that they should tell a trusted adult about any safety concerns they may have, rather than believe or spread rumors.

In addition, anyone may report any safety concerns to an administrator or to the district’s anonymous tip line at (919) 856-1911.

I am grateful for the quick and thorough response from law enforcement and WCPSS Security. We will continue to take every measure to ensure the safety of our students.

Thank you for your continued support of our school.

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report!

    • Tonight is the last regular season football game of the year versus cross-town rival Fuquay Varina High School.  We need all of our Storm supporters out to the game to cheer on our team.  Game time is 7:30.. Our PTSA has joined with the FVHS PTSA and are hosting the 2nd annual Blessing Bowl at the game.  Both PTSA’s are hosting a food drive to support our local food pantries for families in need.  Just like the game, our PTSA needs to beat the amount of food items collected by the FVHS PTSA.  If you are coming out to the game, bring any non-perishable food items for this great cause.  Items will be collected at the visitor entrance to the stadium as you go in.

    • Attention parents of AP students.  AP Exam opt out forms were sent home with your students this past week for Fall AP Classes.  All students in an AP Class will be ordered an exam and be administered to AP Students in the beginning of May.  If you do not want your student to take the exam, the form will need to be filled out and returned to Amy Gregorio in Student Services by November 3, 2023.  You do NOT need to take any action if your student plans to take the exam. We encourage all students to take the exam.   If an exam is ordered for your student, and the student does not take the exam, then a 40 dollar non-used exam fee will be charged to you.  If you have any questions, please call Amy Gregorio.

    • The first quarter ends next Tuesday.  There is no school on Wednesday as we will have a teacher workday for teachers to get their grades completed for first quarter report cards.

    • Congratulations to our Men’s Soccer team who finished the regular season as our Conference Champions.  The Men’s Soccer team will play at home on Monday in their first ever State Playoff Game.  We are very proud of these student athletes and what they have accomplished this year.  Please remember, Storm Club passes do not work at State Playoff Games. We hope to see you at the game.

    • Lastly, school picture retakes are next Thursday, November 2nd.  If you missed our original picture day or need a redo, now is your chance.

Thanks for all you do to support our school.  Make it a great weekend and Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

    • We are seeing an increasing number of students being dropped off early before the drop-off zone in carpool. This is leading to students crossing the carpool lanes as cars are passing by without sunlight on most mornings. This is dangerous and risks the safety of our students and all involved in carpool. Please do not let your child out of your car until you are directly in front of the school, and you've pulled all the way up as directed by our carpool staff.

    • Tonight is our last home football game of the season.  We hope you will join us at 6:30 as we recognize many of our Seniors student athletes and marching band members.  It’s gonna be a great night for football!

    • I would like to remind all families that all of our students in grades 9-12 have class dues each school year of $20.  These funds allow us to host and pay for student events during their time at WSHS, especially their Junior and Senior years.  These funds cover the costs of our proms, many senior activities as well as graduation expenses.  Student dues can be paid on-line or in person at the main office.  Seniors will be denied access to certain events if they are not current with their student dues.

    • Senior cap and gown make-up photos will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday.  Seniors have to make an appointment.  The link to sign up is in our Storm News section on our school website.

    • Also, just a reminder that tickets to the fall dance,  A Night in Greece, are on sale through Wednesday of next week.  Tickets can be purchased online through Wednesday or in person at lunch on Monday & Tuesday in the cafe.  It should be a great event.

Thanks for your support of our school!  Have a great weekend and Go Storm!

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS.  I have some updates and information to share with our families.

    • Student services will start presenting Signs of Suicide curriculum which brings awareness to depression and suicide prevention. The presentation helps teach students how to get support and guidance for themselves or a friend if needed. All 9th graders and 12th graders‌ will receive this training. If you do not want your child to participate, your child will receive an opt out letter, which will need to be signed and returned to student services. 9th graders will start the week of October 2nd and will occur in their Healthful Living class. 12th graders will start the week of October 23rd and will occur in their English 4 or AP English class. All the parent resources for this curriculum will be located on our school website, under student services.

    • The Student services team has been meeting with all seniors from September 18th through September 27th to plan for life after high school! Please make sure to ask your children what they have learned during these meetings!

    • Please check out the Attendance information found under the parent heading our of school website.  We are closely monitoring students unexcused absences this school year so it is very important for parents to follow the required procedures to get absences excused that qualify as excused absences.  Students will lose privileges or can possibly fail a course due to unexcused absences.

Thanks so much for your continued support of our school.  Make it a great weekend!  Go Storm!

    • Reminder, our rescheduled Meet the Teacher Open House will be on Monday, September 11 at 6:30.  We hope all families will be able to attend to learn more about your student’s classes for the first semester.

    • The first PTSA meeting for the school year will be held on Tuesday, September 12 in our Media Center at 6:30.  Joining the PTSA and attending these meetings is a great way to get involved with our school community.

    • The Media Specialists continue to distribute Chromebooks to eligible students.  There are still some students eligible to receive a Chromebook.  Another shipment of devices was expected today.  Again, we thank you for your patience as we wait to receive the requested devices from the district.

    • School pictures are right around the corner.  We will have school pictures taken on September 20th.  Families and students will be receiving information shortly about how to order pictures.

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS.  I am contacting our families to let you know that we have made the decision to move our Meet the Teacher Open House to Monday, September 11th at 6:30.  Due to the extreme heat forecast for tomorrow and our limited AC, our building would not be comfortable to host the event tomorrow.  I apologize for this change and hope that you will still be able to attend on Monday, September 11th.  We look forward to seeing you then.
