DRMS' Principal Message
Happy Sunday Dolphins! This is Kristen Faircloth, proud principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your June 19, 2022 Family Message.
Happy Father's Day to all our Dolphin Dads! Today we honor all the fathers and father figures who have played essential roles in so many lives. Thank you for making the sacrifices and embracing the responsibility of nurturing and raising your children. We also celebrated Juneteenth this weekend. We the people make this nation better for all of us when we unite in our demands for progress. Our collective actions have the power to change policies and shift cultural norms. So, Happy Emancipation Day!
We completed two days of EOG/EOC testing at DRMS. Our 6th and 8th grade students worked hard during their ELA and Mathematics testing on Thursday and Friday. On Monday, our 8th grade students will complete their testing with the Science EOG and our 7th grade students will begin their testing with ELA. Testing will start as soon as the last bus has arrived and as close to 8:15 AM as possible. Our last academic day of the 2021-22 school year is Monday, June 27, 2022. Report cards will be given out on Monday, June 27.
Please read through the Family Message and don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
End-of-Year State Testing: This week, students will continue to participate in the regular administration of North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) tests , Reading, Math and Science 8. Students enrolled in Math 1 will participate in an End of Course (EOC) test and students in Math 2 will participate in a teacher-made assessment. Testing will follow this schedule. Students who score Level 3 or higher on these assessments are considered proficient.
If you have any questions about EOG or EOC testing, please contact our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net.
EOG Remediation/Readministration Opportunity: This year, Wake County has opted in to have students that pass an EOG course, but do not score a 3 or higher on the EOG test to have an opportunity for remediation and readministration of the EOG. Please refer to previous information and/or reach out to our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net with questions. Again, this is optional for only those students that qualify.

2021-2022 Yearbooks: Thank you to all who have purchased yearbooks. Yearbooks will be distributed on Thursday, June 23, 2022. There are limited yearbooks left for purchase.
Meal Applications/Free & Reduced Lunch: All students currently receive free school meals supported by federal funding due to the pandemic. This funding is set to end on June 30, 2022. In order to receive free or reduced-price meals for next school year, families need to submit a meal benefits application.
All families must complete an application for the 2022-2023 school year starting July 1 in order to receive benefits. Please allow 10 business days for processing.
For every student that turns in the free and reduced meals application and qualifies, the school also receives federal funds that benefit the students and teachers at the school.
We need you to complete a 2022-2023 meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for extra funding next year. If you have not completed a free or reduced-price meal application, please apply online. Paper applications can also be requested by calling 919-588-3535 or 919-856-2920 or emailing cnsmealbenefits@wcpss.net.
Rising 7th Grade Immunizations: NC State Law mandates that all rising 7th-grade students have their TDAP and Meningococcal (MCV) vaccines. Please return immunization records showing TDAP and Meningococcal (MCV) vaccines by or before July 29th, 2022. Immunization records may be emailed to kbograd@wcpss.net. We appreciate your attention to this mandate.
