DRMS' Principal Message

Happy Sunday, Dolphins!  This is Kristen Faircloth, proud principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your June 12, 2022 Family Message.

We made it to EOG/EOC and Spirit Week!  Our students and staff have worked hard this year and are ready to demonstrate their knowledge!  We have two in a half weeks left of the 2021-22 school year filled with testing and celebrations.  Please continue to encourage your students to stay focused, make good choices, and put their best foot forward to ensure we finish the year strong as a collective team.

Take a moment to read through the Family Message below and reach out for any needs you may have.

Spirit Week:  Thank you to the DRMS Student Council, we will kick-off EOG/EOC week with three days of spirit!  Everyone is invited to participate and show that they can "Be their Best," "Persevere," and be "Resilient" during testing.

End-of-Year State Testing:  Starting this week, students will participate in the regular administration of North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) tests , Reading, Math and Science 8. Students enrolled in Math 1 will participate in an End of Course (EOC) test and students in Math 2 will participate in a teacher-made assessment. Testing will follow this schedule.  Students who score Level 3 or higher on these assessments are considered proficient.

If you have any questions about EOG or EOC testing, please contact our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net.

EOG Remediation/Readministration Opportunity: This year, Wake County has opted in to have students that pass an EOG course, but do not score a 3 or higher on the EOG to have an opportunity for remediation and readministration of the EOG. Please refer to previous information and/or reach out to our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net with questions.  Again, this is optional for only those students that qualify.

2021-22 DRMS Athletics Banquet:  The Durant Road Middle School Athletic Banquet will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. The banquet will begin at 6:00pm and take place in the auditorium. The banquet will recognize students that participated in sports during the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

There will be bins in the back of the auditorium labeled for you to drop off any uniforms you may have. Thank you so much and we look forward to recognizing your student athletes!

Mark your Calendars:  The end of the 2021-22 school year will be here before we know it!
