DRMS' Principal Message
Happy Sunday, Dolphins! This is Kristen Faircloth, proud principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your June 5 Family Message.
We have made it to June, the last month of the 2021-22 school year! We are a week and a half away from End of Year Testing. It is more important than ever to ensure your child is attending school, staying focused, keeping up with their assignments and end of year review. We are so proud of the progress the students have made and looking forward to them "showing what they know" during EOGs/EOCs.
Please take a moment to read through the Family Message below. As always, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or needs you may have.
Arts Performances: We had our last performing arts performance this past week, on Thursday, June 2. Congratulations to our dance students on an amazing performance! Thank you to Ms. Holloway for leading our dancers. We are so proud of our Dolphins as well as our Arts Programs and DRMS.
End-of-Year State Testing: At the end of the school year, your child will participate in the regular administration of North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) tests , Reading, Math and Science 8. Students enrolled in Math 1 will participate in an End of Course (EOC) test and students in Math 2 will participate in a teacher-made assessment. Testing will follow this schedule. Students who score Level 3 or higher on these assessments are considered proficient.
If you have any questions about EOG or EOC testing, please contact our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net.
EOG Remediation/Readministration Opportunity: This year, Wake County has opted in to have students that pass an EOG course, but do not score a 3 or higher on the EOG to have an opportunity for remediation and readministration of the EOG. Please refer to previous information and/or reach out to our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net with questions. Again, this is optional for only those students that qualify.
