Principal Message, 10/27/24
Good Afternoon!
Thank you all for contributing to such a wonderful Fun Run & After Party Event last Friday!
While raising funds to support our students and their learning is so beneficial, the true gift and joy is the fellowship and fun that we all have as a school community! I appreciate everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the event and after party a success and am grateful to all who came out to celebrate! Bonus: I can now cross being “duct taped to a wall” off my principal bingo card!
Next week, I will be giving out the very first Apex Elementary growth mindset award to a student in each classroom. Growth mindset is the belief that a person’s abilities can be improved through effort, learning and persistence. At Apex ES, we celebrate mistakes as part of the learning process. Each month, each classroom teacher will nominate a student who has demonstrated a growth mindset and each month, I will come to each class and recognize that student who was nominated and share with their class exactly how they have demonstrated a growth mindset. Our goal is to collectively reinforce that mistakes are part of learning and that setting goals and sticking to them until they are achieved is way more important than the myth of perfection.
Please see the announcements for this week below, including a newly added PJ/comfy clothes spirit day on October 31st!
Warm Regards,
Katie Caggia

End of the Quarter & Report Cards

Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, November 8th.
Joining Students for Lunch
Beginning November 4, we are happy to open the cafeteria up to parents/guardians who would like to visit with their student(s) during their lunch period. Thank you for allowing students and staff the space to learn and practice cafeteria procedures and expectations during the first quarter.
To join your students for lunch, you will need to ring the doorbell and sign in through the main office and scan your photo ID. You will be given a visitor sticker that you will need to display while you are on campus and will only be able to travel from the front office to the cafeteria and back to the front office when you are ready to leave.
Cougars Care
As a school community, we want to make sure all of our families have a wonderful holiday season. If you need support in providing gifts for your children, please fill out this form and return to Mrs. Bowman or Ms. Piezer, school counselors, no later than November 15th. If you would like a hard copy sent home with your student or have questions, please email Mrs. Bowman (abowman@wcpss.net) or Ms. Piezer (hpiezer@wcpss.net).
Apex Elementary’s Vision: As a community, we will empower and inspire every child to be a confident, compassionate, and creative individual who will reach their potential through meaningful connections and student-centered learning.
