This week we are excited to host the first of our 24-25 Curriculum Nights for grades k-2 on Tuesday, September 24th. Please see the schedule below and we hope to see you there!
We look forward to hosting Grades 3-5 on October 1st.

Open House Curriculum Nights
This week! Tuesday, September 24, 5:30-7pm: Grades k-2
Tuesday, October 1, 5:30-7pm: Grades 3-5
Each night, there will be two sessions. Sessions are repeated for parents who have more than one child in a grade level span each night. Parents only need to attend one session per grade level/child. For example, if you only have a first grader, you can choose to only attend session 1 and then you are certainly free to leave the event.
Prior to the classroom sessions, the AES PTA will hold a brief general meeting at 5:30pm.
Please note that the presentations are geared towards parents and no child care is provided.
Open House/Curriculum Night Schedule:

5:00-5:30 pm- AIG Meeting for families of current 4th & 5th grade students (October 1st ONLY)

5:30-5:45 pm- General PTA Meeting in Gym

5:50-6:20 pm - Session #1

6:25-6:55 pm - Session #2 (repeat of first session)

6:55-7:00 pm Families Depart
Fourth, Fifth Grade Teachers, Parents and Students AIG Nomination Window is open!
(1st Semester)

Teachers or Parents may nominate:

High achieving 4th, 5th grade students who are not already identified

High achieving 4th, 5th grade students who wish to add a second area of identification

High achieving 4th, 5th grade students who are new to Wake County Public Schools
Volunteer renewal closes Oct. 1
Families and individuals approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year received a reminder email on Sept. 5 about the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year. Families must renew their volunteer registration by Oct. 1, or they must go through the entire volunteer approval process. Review volunteer renewal details here. If you were not a volunteer last year and would like to volunteer this year, you can sign up here.
HELPS Tutoring Opportunity
Our school will be participating in the HELPS 1:1 tutoring model using volunteers. HELPS 1:1 is a WCPSS program in collaboration with the Wake Ed Partnership and Helping Education.
The HELPS 1:1 program equips students with literacy fundamentals in an individual setting. This approach has proven to be one of the most successful systems for improving students’ literacy skills.

Builds fluency and confidence.

Trained tutors adhere to a research-validated literacy curriculum.

HELPS curriculum is structured and scripted.

Tutors can be easily trained to implement this program.
