Open House Curriculum Nights

This week!  Tuesday, September 24, 5:30-7pm: Grades k-2

Tuesday, October 1, 5:30-7pm: Grades 3-5

Each night, there will be two sessions. Sessions are repeated for parents who have more than one child in a grade level span each night.  Parents only need to attend one session per grade level/child.  For example, if you only have a first grader, you can choose to only attend session 1 and then you are certainly free to leave the event.

Prior to the classroom sessions, the AES PTA will hold a brief general meeting at 5:30pm.

Please note that the presentations are geared towards parents and no child care is provided.

HELPS Tutoring Opportunity

Our school will be participating in the HELPS 1:1 tutoring model using volunteers. HELPS 1:1 is a WCPSS program in collaboration with the Wake Ed Partnership and Helping Education.

The HELPS 1:1 program equips students with literacy fundamentals in an individual setting. This approach has proven to be one of the most successful systems for improving students’ literacy skills.

  • Builds fluency and confidence.

  • Trained tutors adhere to a research-validated literacy curriculum.

  • HELPS curriculum is structured and scripted.

  • Tutors can be easily trained to implement this program.
