Principal Message, 9/1/24

Good Afternoon!

We had a wonderful first week of school! Thank you for all you have done to make our start so successful!

Tuesday morning, Kindergarten students will “Meet the Teacher” from 8:00-8:45. No sign in is necessary for this event, as it takes place before school starts.

On Wednesday, we are excited to welcome our kindergartners to school full-time! As our grade 1–5 parents have already been expertly doing, kindergarten parents should please be prepared to drop their kindergartners off either in carpool or at the front door. Due to safety & security protocols, parents will not be able to escort students to class. Please know that we will have many staff members stationed at both the carpool, van and bus entrances to escort kindergartners to class next week. After Wednesday drop off is complete, Kindergarten parents are invited to attend the Cheers & Tears breakfast at 9:30am in the cafeteria (sign in required).

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Warm Regards,

Katie Caggia

Volunteer renewal closes Oct. 1

Families and individuals who were approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year will receive a reminder email on Sept. 5 about the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year. Families are encouraged to renew their volunteer status by Oct. 1. Review volunteer renewal details.

Please save the dates for our 24-25 Open House Curriculum Nights:

Tuesday, September 24, 5:30-7pm: Grades k-2

Thursday, September 26, 5:30-7pm: Grades 3-5

Each night, there will be two sessions. Sessions are repeated for parents who have more than one child in a grade level span each night.  Parents only need to attend one session per grade level/child.  For example, if you only have a first-grader, you can choose to only attend session 1, and then you are certainly free to leave the event.

Prior to the classroom sessions, the AES PTA will hold a brief general meeting at 5:30pm.

Save the Date: 4th & 5th Grade AIG Parent Meeting

On Thursday, September 26th, Ms. Bell will host a meeting for parents of current 4th and 5th grade AIG students from 5-5:30pm in the Media Center.

Attention Walkers

If you still need to do so, please sign and return the 2024-25 Walker/Biker Agreement with your child on Tuesday, September 3. Families who do not complete this form on Tuesday must come to check their children out at the office for dismissal. If you are unsure if you have returned the agreement, please get in touch with Wesley Clark at wlclark@wcpss.net or your child's teacher.

Parents who are greeting walkers should not park their vehicles in the carpool lane.
