Principal Message, 8/25/24
Good Afternoon!
We enjoyed seeing many of our families at our Meet the Teacher event and are excited to welcome 1st-5th grade students back to school on Tuesday, August 27th! If you were not able to make it last Friday, we will have plenty of staff available to help your student(s) find their classroom Tuesday morning. Please note that Kindergarten students have their staggered entry this week and will only attend school one day this week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Warm Regards,
Katie Caggia
Bus Updates
A link to the most up-to-date bus routes can be found here. Please follow the instructions found here to download the Here Comes the Bus app in order to track your student’s bus in real time. Additionally, please follow our bus account on Twitter @aes_bus for daily updates related to bus schedules for both arrival and dismissal. Please send any questions related to Transportation to Mr. Wesley Clark at wlclark@wcpss.net
Student Arrival
Student arrival is from 8:50-9:10. For safety & security, we ask that carpool and walker parents or guardians drop students off outside of the building. We will not be able to accommodate parents walking students into the building. All students will be greeted by staff members who will ensure they are able to find their correct classroom. We appreciate your understanding. Students are tardy after 9:15 and will have to be signed into school by an adult.
Student Dismissal
Dismissal is at 3:45. For safety and security, please be sure to display carpool tags. If you do not have a tag displayed at afternoon pickup, you will need to park and pick up your child in the front office by showing photo identification.
Student Check In/Check Out Procedures
We have a digital check-out system. In addition to your driver’s license, please bring in your phone to scan the QR code which will take you to a check out form.
Medication Information
Starting August 27, medications may be dropped off after 9:15 AM and before 3:30 PM. Do not bring medications during arrival and dismissal as staff will be busy helping students and not available to sign in medications.
Kindergarten parents may sign in for medications after dropping off their student on staggered entry day if they wish.
IMPORTANT: Medications CANNOT be accepted without a new 1702 form for the 24-25 school year. Please do not send in medications/forms with students. Parents or guardians must sign in medications.
If you have any questions regarding medications or health concerns, please contact Rebecca Reeves, RN, Apex Elementary's school nurse at rreeves@wcpss.net.
School Meals
During the 24-25 school year, the price for school breakfast is $1.75 and the price for school lunch is $3.50.
If you need to apply for free & reduced meals, please complete a meal benefits application.
