Principal's Message 7.14.24
Updates for this week
ARRIVALS, DISMISSALS, & TRANSPORTATION
Carpool: Carpool enters and exits the school at Pleasant Grove Church Road. Cars follow the stacking lane that goes straight by the big playground so that traffic does not back up onto Pleasant Grove Church Road. Do not stop in the school driveway and create a hazard. Parents make sure your child is ready to exit from the passenger side when you reach the school entrance. Your child should exit and enter your car from the passenger side. Pull all the way down to the furthest point to load/unload. For safety, do not attempt to pass around cars because this creates unsafe conditions for everyone. If you have not received a carpool number for this year yet, then please follow this link to request a number: PGES Carpool Number Request Link. You will not be able to use last year’s number or a number from a previous school.
Bus Transportation: Families should access the WCPSS website at https://www.wcpss.net/Page/174 for the most up-to-date information about 2024-2025 bus services. Each afternoon we post bus departure times on our school bus twitter @pgesbuses. If your child will ride the bus, be at your bus stop early and be patient as new students are getting used to riding a bus and routes are being adjusted.
Bus Conduct: WCPSS will enforce a Code of Conduct for students who ride school bus transportation. Look for additional information coming home with your child. Students who cannot follow the code of conduct will lose bus riding privileges.
Early Checkout: If you find it necessary to check your child out of school early, you must do so before 3:15 PM. You must show a photo ID when you arrive to check your child out of school. For the safety of all our students, our office staff will ask to see a photo ID before releasing a child to anyone.
Transportation Changes: If you have an emergency transportation change that you can’t request in writing, please call the school office at 919-694-8770 prior to 2:30 PM so we can notify your child’s teacher. Please do NOT send an e-mail to the teacher during the school day to request a transportation change. He or she might not read your e-mail until after dismissal.
Dismissal: School Dismissal begins at 3:45 PM. Carpool lines up in the stacking lane from Pleasant Grove Church Road. During the first weeks of school carpool dismissal can be slow as students learn this routine. Buses dismiss as they arrive at school to be loaded. Bus dismissal can be impacted by delays at other schools, traffic, and bus driver availability.
INFORMATION FOR ALL FAMILIES
School Communications: Pleasant Grove sends messages to families through email and texts so look for these messages to stay informed. You can set preferences for notifications at https://www.wcpss.net/domain/12201. Additional information is shared on the school website at www.wcpss.net/pleasantgrovees.
Birthday Parties: Pleasant Grove cannot accommodate requests for birthday parties at school. Adults should plan birthday parties, special treats, cake, cupcakes, and candies for their children at home or at a non-school location.

School Counseling: WCPSS school counselors work with all students to help them gain skills to reach their full potential and lead productive lives in a complex and changing world. Counselors teach valuable social-emotional learning lessons in the classroom and work with students in small groups, as well as individually. Our PGES counselor is Ms. Chawon Williams (cwilliams29@wcpss.net).
