Positivity Focus for the Week: Social Intelligence
Winter Clothing Drive: There's SNOW-thing better than helping others and having FUN while doing it!!⛄ The PGES Student Council will be collecting gently used and/or new winter clothing items from January 22 - February 6th. Donations will be given to the Salvation Army and then distributed to children in Wake County.
The following is a list of items we are collecting coats, hats, gloves/mittens, scarves
World Read Aloud Day: Calling all volunteers! Pleasant Grove Elementary will be celebrating World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, February 7th. This is a day where people all across the globe read aloud and share stories to help promote literacy, and particularly in this case, childhood literacy! We are looking for volunteers to come in and read to students throughout the school day. Volunteers will be made up of parents, family members, and community members with a goal to make sure that every single class receives the opportunity to hear from a "guest-reader". Classroom time slots are only 30 minutes each and volunteers can sign up for as few or as many as they would like! For further sign-up instructions and to sign up to help read, visit the link here: https://bit.ly/pgesread24
Learning Celebrations: We want to extend a warm invitation to parents of students in second and third grades to celebrate the end of EL modules. Second grade’s celebration of module 2 will take place on Monday, January 22nd in students’ respective classrooms at 2:00-2:30 p.m. Third grade’s EL celebration will take place on Friday, January 26th, also in classrooms from 2:00-2:30. I cannot wait to see all of the learning on display from our Flyers!
Jump Rope For Heart: It’s time for the 8th Annual PGES American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge™! By participating in Kids Heart Challenge, your child will raise funds to help kids with special hearts and make all communities healthier. They’ll also learn about taking care of their hearts and participate in cardio-pumping challenges. Plus, our school can earn PE equipment and your child can earn fun thank-you gifts! Start today to enjoy educational, fun online experiences and raise funds. Everything can be done easily online with our Kids Heart Challenge app or website. Send emails, texts and post social media messages to collect donations online. Make a pledge to move more as a family and track your progress with our free online Move More tracker. Tip: if you receive checks, use the app to scan them and have the amount immediately added to your child’s total. This campaign is all on-line. We will not accept any cash. FYI: our campaign will end on Friday, February 16th! Please see the later coming soon from Coach Hager late this week.
