Principal's Message 1.7.24
Updates for this week
Positivity Focus for the Week: Prudence
Lost and Found: Parents, our Lost and Found is filling up quickly. If your child is missing any items such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, or water bottles, then please stop by during arrivals to check here. You will need to sign in as a visitor between 8:45-9:15 to obtain permission to walk down to the cafeteria to check for any missing items. All leftover Lost and Found items will be donated soon!
Late Bus Notification (Learning Lab): Now, in addition to being notified via Twitter, and Class Dojo we will send out a School Messenger notification to alert families when buses arrive to campus over an hour after dismissal time.
Carpool: During morning carpool, we begin receiving students at 8:45. Please do not drop students off at the door prior to that time. There is not any staff present prior to this time to supervise and monitor students. It is not safe to do this. In addition, all students need to be dropped off in the carpool line unless you are walking them up to the door. For safety reasons, I appreciate you not dropping students off in the parking lot, or in the crosswalk areas for them to walk to the building. The line moves quickly and is very efficient.
In addition, for afternoon carpool, please stay in the carpool line after your student is loaded into your vehicle. We are noticing a higher number of cars cutting out of the line to drive around the car in front of them. Again, due to safety, refrain from doing this and instead proceed forward directly after the car in front of you. Afternoon carpool runs from 3:45-4:15. All carpool students need to be picked up by 4:15 each afternoon. As always, I appreciate your cooperation.
Illness: We have been hit hard this cold/flu season. Many viruses are still floating around and finding their way into our building, such as RSV. Please refrain from sending students to school while ill. In addition, students must be fever free, without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
Middle School Open House: Families of rising 6th graders, as we are made aware of area middle school open houses, then we will share that information with you. See details below regarding Leesville Road Middle School and Ligon Middle School. Please note that Ligon is a magnet, application school.
